mskestrela's Journal, 08 April 2017

So, yeah. 8 days after going back to under 20g carbs/day, I'm back to my pre-Christmas, 25-year low. Snap!
Today I spent four and a half hours with one client. Color, cut and Keratin treatment. Frizzy-haired gals, if you haven't heard about it, google it!
She's one of my faves, and anyone who's 70, and totally rocks a straight, layered, ultra-chic look, and will drop $380 (plus tip) to do it is a rockstar in my book!
After the marathon, I had to do my weekly Walmart run. It took longer than usual, because I had a few extras on the list, outside the grocery area. I walked for an hour and a half, after being on my feet non-stop for 4.5 hours. Ooof! But, my serenity and energy (thank you Ketosis!!) were enough to sustain me.
The 25 minute drive home turned into a 45 minute drive, thanks to Spring breakers heading South. The interstate was a parking lot 15 miles long, and the alternate route was almost the same. Sometimes living in a resort area sucks. (Why do they call it Tourist Season if ya can't shoot 'em??)
But, I got the groceries put away, the birds and cats fed, the litter boxes cleaned, and am finally sitting (BLISS!) with a rum and Coke. I have a feeling I'll be in bed shortly after the sun goes down.
I knew it was going to be a non-stop-boogie day, so I forced myself to have a couple of fried eggs for breakfast, with extra butter. No BPC, because I couldn't afford the potty breaks, time-wise. So now, I'm a little peckish, and am debating dragging my tired butt out of the chair and making dinner, or pushing through to fast until tomorrow, for a 24+ hour fast. Hmmmmmmm...
It's a ramble, and it's my life. LOL!
Have a great rest of your weekends, my buddies!

@Barb, I actually had a bumper sticker with that "Why do they call it..." quote on it when I lived in Tennessee. I was very close to Gatlinburg at the time. I'm a mountain girl at heart.....and there are danged tourists anywhere you go. LOL!

Kes, I was thinking of you today. I've suffered a hair tragedy, and I thought you would make it better, if only you weren't so far away!

I had a laid back day today, I read your journal and veggies journal , it made me feel better that I am not c the only one that has those non stop days. I did manage to get in 7000 steps between chasing buddy and apartment campus walking

You made me giggle! Thank you. Congrats on the weight loss. We used to live in the Columbia River Gorge and during the summer the scenic areas turn into parking lots. There are long stretches of freeway where there ARE no alternate routes so you are forced into the bumper to bumper bliss between bridges on one side of the river or the other. But my nephew used to have a whole comedy routine about the questions tourists would ask.. one of my favourites was, "what time do they turn the Falls off?" referring to Multnomah Falls waterfall. Huh? (This has been asked multiple times. I want one of Bill Engvall's signs.)

@smprowett, I love the Multnomah Falls! And I love Bill Engvall! Thanks for the return giggle.

My sister used to run a cafe, and one of her college-student customers asked her once, "Is the shrimp bisque vegan?"

I love stuff like that! Some of the priceless things that just pop out of people's mouths sometimes! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Woot! Congrats on your 20 year low! That must feel amazing. The best part has to be the energy, though.

LOL @Erika! It's really amazing how clueless some people are. I saw a rant on Facebook by a twit who was raging against hunters who eat their kills. She said, "Why don't you just buy your meat at the grocery store, where they make it without hurting animals??"

@LiD, Yes, I was really surprised that after the grueling work day, I had energy to wander around Wally World for an hour and a half, and get so much done when I got home. I was tired, yes, but not wrung out like I was while doing higher carbs.

Frizzy haired girl here! Still can't find a product that works for me. :-)

Aww, thanks, Kes! I don't know why she thought I'd want my first mullet at 49! But she chopped off all of the lower, front layers that used to blend gracefully down to the longest hair. Thank goodness I mostly work from home. I'm using barrettes to pull my remaining, higher layers back, so it looks more like I pulled my hair up in front on purpose. When I get a chance, I might try to find someone else to trim the bottom a bit shorter and to angle the front most, longest hair a bit. And I'm hoping it will grow back quickly! On the plus side, hair blowing in my face while the convertible top is down is now less of an issue!
