baskington's Journal, 05 August 2018

I have had a bad couple days and yesterday was just aweful. We went out to do the shopping and ate dinner at ruby Tuesdays. I had the Cajun tiliapa with shrimp and between the shrimp and something in the Cajun sauce, my glands started swelling and generally felt horrible. too many issues to mention. I have been trying to test different items and it seems like the more I remove from my eating list the harder the next one hits me.

very frustrated. I still feel bad, so going to kick back in bed for a while. Drinking a ton of water and ate a ton of bacon my husband made me. took me forever to write this, kept typing wrong.

I know things will be better soon, but it is hard to feel so punked when I have been feeling so good. food sensitivities and allergies are no fun.

I hope you feel better! As an adult I became allergic to shellfish (I used to eat it all the time). I hope this is not the case with you.

Hope you feel better!

Hope you feel better soon. If you have some fresh mint it might help - put it in hot water and drink it like tea - it's good for so many things.

thank you for the nice thoughts. this too will pass. it is just tough to cut out so much and still end up with a bigger reaction then ever. and yes I know it was the shrimp, but never like this, the Cajun seasoning too, something in there just made it worst. calf muscles still twitching and tightening. I keep stretching and drinking. hopefully tomarrow will be a better day. afraid to eat anything

I’m sorry about that. Hopefully soon you feel better. It must be awful to have food allergies 🤢

yes it is and so frustrating. I never had such a reaction before and it just seems like the more I clean up the diet the more my body is reacting to the bad things which did not seem to effect that badly before. Adef got me thinking about ribeye so I ran to the store and will be eating beef and broccoli for the next few days. If I am going to have reactions to things, may as well try a super strict diet and clean up. It was that or going for my coffee and creamer which I know will set me off. I needed to get my calories up and this should help, nothing better than a nice fatty steak! Grabbed some little ones too for the first couple days to see how I feel

I think your ribeye clean up plan is a good one, of course without the coffee and creamer to set you off. You're being smart about it and I'm sure you'll come out ahead. I pulled broccoli from my rotation because I was finally able to ID it as the culprit as i tested one food per day. I actually liked broccoli. Maybe the more we clean up our diet, the more our body says "NO- remember? that food doesn't work for us - stop now please!" And we can hear it better than we used to because it doesn't happen as often anymore. On the other hand, could the fish have been bad or tainted in some way? Hope you feel great soon.

no problem with the fish, it was the shrimp which is on my blood test as being sensitive to but never ever have a I had my throat almost closeing from a couple tiny shrimp. My husband normally eats them for me but I generally eat a couple. the last time I ate at Ruby's I noticed a flare from the Cajun seasonings so I know that helped push me over the top with the shrimp. This week I found vinegar sends a brain fog along with a few other things. I keep forgetting, so I write them down when it happens. I know flour and cheese are problems but I still want to be tested for them. there may be some I can have. doing it myself seems to send me off. Some things are brain fog and some set my leg cramping, there are other more subtle things but those sometimes are harder to catch. I only had bacon this morning, my legs kept tingling bubbling thing. Hard to describe I don't know if it is still from last night issue working itself out or what I had this morning. Still stretching!

Sorry to hear about your food allergies getting the best of you - must be really hard to try to figure out exactly what to avoid. Hoping you feel better soon!

I hope you'll be able to figure it out. It sounds like you are having a hard time with it. Good luck and hope you feel better.

and you know it would be just the way things are going that the broccoli is the next thing to kick my butt! It would fit just how things have been going. good thing I like beef!

No fun at all. Have you seen an allergist and gotten tested? Sounds like you need to. I hope you’re feeling better soon!

I was tested by an allergist 3 decades ago, everything was off the chart and they had to give me a shot. I had a lot of other things going on at the time to and figured over time a lot of them were more sensitivities. I had to do a rotational diet and treated for the body yeast infection. recently my new doctor did a few bloodtest and it seems we will have to take a few more. I have been suffering from a lot of things the past decade I have discussed in my journal from time to time. Getting fit and losing weight has cleared my brain fog quite a bit, now to go backwards is challenging. body is fighting back from me removing things.

Oh no! I hope you get it figured out soon and the reactions stop. I’m sure it’s not fun trying to figure out your ‘safe’ foods 😢

thanks,,, no it is not fun that this is all hitting me now that I have been doing so well. I have been relaxing after dinner of the steak and broccoli, I let it soak in olive oil and sprinkled with garlic and pepper for hours then grill. While I am relaxing I feel the tendons in my feet and calf's tightening again. This is what the physical therapist and I am working on, lengthening them and loosening them up. It is really weird to be clear headed enough to actually feel them creeping back up. and I got a headache. Now is it a caffeine lack headache or something I ate. I always assumed the issue with my calf's was more food reaction, but I don't know for sure. I take 1/2 5 hour for a caffeine fix in the morning and I just took half now and will see if the headache is just lack of caffeine, I am jonesing for my coffee. I will know soon on this one. Hate to think I can't have broccoli either. Other than my 5 hour, I have had a very limited diet, bacon steak and broccoli with butter. tomarrow I will just fry the steak in the pan with butter and garlic and no broccoli and see if I feel any different.

Also consider the oil Ruby Tuesday's may be using isn't coconut oil or Ghee but veggie oils, margarine, and probably cheap stuff at that. I can have the same meal at home and a restaurant and feel completely different by cooking it myself.
