This is an awesome post and educating tool for those that use the scale! Thanks for sharing! As for me my scale is thrown out back in the bushes if anyone wants it, lol!

Maybe that explains those little fluctuations from day to day. Have to remind myself not to think I have to weigh every morning. Sometimes I think it is more beneficial to weigh once a week. Otherwise it can be discouraging if you know you've been good!

I struggle with this all the time! Thank you for sharing. The other day I could finally wrap my fingers around my wrist and they would touch. I as so excited, then the next day I tried again and they didnt. I was devastated, but by the end of the day they could again. I realized it had to be all the water.

This is actually what I tell myself, although when I've searched online to verify that depleted fat cells fill with water I have not found any actual evidence to show that that's really what is happening. It seems to be more of a theory. But regardless, I do believe that that IS what is happening, or something similar (i.e. even if the fat cells themselves are not filling with water in some sort of endocrinology homeostasis, the BODY is retaining water SOMEWHERE to maintain some sort of endocrinology homeostasis).
It can be extremely discouraging when I KNOW that my calorie intake (with all the right macronutrient percentages), exercise expenditure of calories, and water intake is spot on and not see the direct results on the scale, even a scale with fat % and water % and muscle % built in. (I can't stop checking the scale every day, but I TRY to at least tell myself that it's only an approximation at best, and one that is heavily influenced by water retention.) About the only thing that helps me maintain a grip is the knowledge that this is a life-long process, and I know, at some level, that as long as I continue to consistently eat properly the weight will come off, and hopefully stay off. But balancing the short term/discouraging results with the long range goal of healthy weight management is really rough sometimes.
