Rock on! I feel that too. If my husband wants to kill himself with bad choices he can go right ahead. Mine got pissy with me last night and slept on the couch and left without saying goodbye. He can kiss his smokes instead.

You have to take care of yourself, and that is not being selfish. My dad was very heavy and my mom thin. She never felt that she had to make him lose weight in order for her to. Don't make him a ball-and-chain around your ankle, and excuse to hold you back. It doesn't have to be that way.

Hang in there, missy. My family watched me lose weight and stay active. After about 8 months, 3 of the 4 have started their own efforts with no prodding ( well, small encouragements, yes) from me.

You are on the right track. You can only make good decisions for yourself. If he wants to make changes it's up to him. If you are eating well and exercising you are demonstrating the option. Don't let your anger at his choices derail you. Do what you need to do to be healthy. You Can Do It!

Ummm. How are you and I married to the same man? LOL. Yes it’s frustrating and your journey would be much easier with his support (or at least cooperation) but quit expending energy trying to get him to see the light. Use this energy on yourself instead! And keep your chin up.

I guess he has not realized what his diabetic future is going to be. I know because i live that through my diabetic father. Such a pity!

Although it makes life easier with a supportive spouse, that doesn't always happen. Good for you for taking the steps you need to do for YOU 👍

Good resolution. It is harder to stick to a well-planned healthy WOE when others in your household don't - but it is not impossible. Bravo for you in moving on when he wants to stay the same!

Good for you! You cannot change what your spouse does but you can change yourself and hopefully by watching your progress they will choose to get on board. Either way you will not regret the decision to take better care of yourself. Good luck!!!

I am in a similar situation. Hubby doesn't have the will power and probably never will. That's on him. I'm not going to be his enabler nor am I going to give up on my own journey. I have to make the right choices for me.

It is sad though to watch someone make bad choices and be completely blasé about it.

We all have to take responsibility for ourselves and our own choices. Took me a long time in denial before I reached the point of knowing that I had to do something to improve my health. No one was going to do it for me.

My husband always says he will diet with me byt it never happens. you are in control of your life, and nobody else's. it's sad, but his choices are his alone. So long as you dont enable. which, it sounds like you arent

i'm with ya, Babe. Mine is the same way. I keep telling him that I want to see our grandkids have kids, and if he doesn't ---that is fine with me....I too have stopped trying to help him. the saying goes, that "God helps those, who help themselves".... Don't sink to his level and Keep Being YOU!!
