I'm 69, married 42 years, and retired. We have 3 kids and 7 grand kids. I was at my max wt of 257 lb in 2013 and diabetic type 2. By 2015 I beat diabetes into remission with low carbs and down to 177 lb. Open heart Aortic valve replacement in 2017, gained to 220 lb by 2021. Since June 2021 I made it down to 172

I'm now working to retain muscle and low body-fat percent. I'm hovering around 180 lb eating < 2400 calories and 28% protein on modified keto, < 90 g net carbs. The muscle is slowly showing up.

I'm Encouraged by so many who are working hard at the lifestyle changes via help from FS!

Not sure, but I've noticed that I don't receive any affiliated advertisements from anywhere, associated with my (non premium) Fat Secret membership. Fat Secret seems so basic that way, and may be why it is popular. It could be the lack 'bells and whistles' (sync-ability and exposure to advertising) that has made it simple yet popular.

New Droid phone won't let me sign in
I have the mobile app. But don't have the option to sign in if already a member. Anyone know the fix for this?

What is your basic work-out routine?
Summer of 2016 my routine was dumbells every other day with alternating muscle combinations. The first exercise was 50 lbs in each hand and doing either three sets of 24 back lunges or three sets of 24 squats. The routine continued with other exercises (max 12 reps)for 40 to 45 minutes. I did jump squats or running in place in between sets. Now, afer heart surgery, I'm slowly trying to get back into it, but still have some restrictions.

Break from workout when sick
Haven't worked out for a week because of this sickening cold I caught. I found out (on the web) that indeed, after 8-10 wks of consistent intense workouts, a week off is good anyway. Great! I was really worried about losing much the muscle tone I had gained.

Determining goal weight
I weighed 160 in high school and early college, had a very fast metabolism (still do for my age, I think). Now at 62 yrs old, my bone density has grown and when dropped weight from 257 to 185 (last three years) emany said I looked skinny. I actually felt a little weaker. I've been bulking to 200lb now, eating right and exercising. Feeling a lot better. So, yes, our body and metabolism changes later in life for sure.
