Today was my sister's birthday. I made a big sushi style supper for her, her fellow, my daughter, her fellow and the two grandkids and my husband. I couldn't believe the work it was to get it done. I ended up prepping about 6 hours yesterday and did another 3 hours today. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I made/served: Ginger Beef (not battered), sushi rice, shrimp stacks, salmon cakes with an avocado sauce, big vegetable platter, mango, sliced avocado, pickled turnip, and a chocolate amaretto cheesecake with wild blueberries for dessert.

That table looks AMAZING!!! I tried making sushi once and that was it. It was so difficult I was ready to cry under the table (and I love to cook), and then it took forever to clean my kitchen. You are seriously a HERO!

All looks like wonderful delicacies ! What’s that second pic? Looks like mustard on top of some rice / shrimp patties?

@60pack I think that may be, what my sushi place calls, yum yum sauce.

60pack the second picture are 'shrimp stacks'. You put chopped up cucumber and green onion into the bottom of a measuring cup then a tablespoon of mashed avocado then a layer of cooked fresh cut up shrimp then a layer of brown sushi rice. Press it down well and then turn it upside down on a plate. That is the stack. The sauce is rooster and mayo mixed together 1:3 ratio. I was supposed to also put on soya sauce but I skipped it. It was delicious!!!

Thank you for all the wonderful compliments! It makes me smile as it was a labour of love and I wanted it to be very nice. Do remember that two weeks ago I shared with the group the wonderful birthday supper that my sister and daughter made me. My daughter would have contributed this time except she was battling a virulent flu. Fortunately she was on the mend last night so she got to do the dishes (with help from her kids)!!
