It’s different for me. His family just say I need to stop or I’m already small enough. The ones in my family who even notice say good job and the older generation makes comments about being proud and occasionally how they wish they had my willpower. I keep trying to tell them I have no willpower; I’m just stubborn! One is just like me and could do it if she choose but her hubby has different health needs (diabetic, heart issues etc) which makes it harder. Also if she cuts back on junk he will leave and get some and eats way more then. They are older and there’s no changing him at this point. If almost dying didn’t change his diet then his wife asking him to won’t 😖.

And good job on you portion control 😉. You utilized more than that but it’s a good round term to encompass what you’ve done for yourself!

Yep lol. When I try to explain half of them get the glazed look lol. They either just can’t understand how we can do this or they don’t want to believe it’s possible for them I guess.

People want what we have achieved but there is no magic for getting to that goal or staying at the goal. That is why finding a WOE and a lifestyle that you can maintain for life is so important. Losing the weight is the easy part. Maintaining that weight requires consistent nurturing.

Maintaining is the hard part😳? I’m screwed lol. Trying for actual maintenance this week and it’s messing with my head lol. My woe hasn’t changed all that much other than cutting some snacks and smaller portions. But on days I’m really hungry it’s super hard to stick to small portions and not grab a snack or two. 😖 The constant being on alert never ends I guess huh?

Yep, that & if you are trying to reverse diabetes (as I am) counting calories, & watching the nature of your carbs. It is healthiest to keep carbs in your diet. ALL of my doctors say “portion control” - for weight loss, lowering BP, cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar.
I am so glad you are not going on the keto diet - sure, you lose weight, & quickly, BUT it sends chol & trigs thru the roof, & as soon as you eat any veggies, you can stop losing.

Peeperjj— your right. The ability to make healthy choices on days that are just routine, days you are working , days with nothing particular going on enables you to eat a bit more freely on days that there are special things happening. Then you still have to enjoy but not gorge. It is a mind set and does become an automatic after a while. It is totally doable and sustainable with feeling deprived. Mindless eating is what does people in. Most people eat out of boredom not actual hunger.

I wish we could edit these posts. No deprivation required. Hehehe

@Stromie keto does not "send cholesterol and triglycerides through the roof." High triglycerides are caused exclusively by a high carb (particlarly sugar) consumption. Cholesterol typically goes down with keto. This is shown by and known from scientific studies. Keto is not for everyone and I'm not here to tell anyone how to best lose weight because that's personal and there are a lot of factors involved. But I do have a problem when I see misinformation about a diet.

True 😂😂, I had to heard for 100,000.000.000... time that I am too skinny from an obese family member 🙄

The next time someone tells you you’re too skinny, tell them they’re too fat! I bet you won’t hear “you’re too skinny again.”
