Hello World! Im a 51 year old KY woman. I found this site searching for the calories of a mango. My sisters and I had just decided to do a calorie diet together and WOW I found this site. It was exactly what I need to motivate me and its FREE. I cannot believe it. I am so poor at self motivation. So FatSecret here I am. I've stuck to my calories every day and logged everything Ive eaten. The Food Journal is awesome. Ive just joined my first challenge. Its a 12 week beginner walking challenge. I want to get down to 135 lbs and then maintain. I really believe I can do it this time and Im so excited. I dont know how to add buddies but if anyone wants to add me as their buddy please do because I would love to make some friends here and help each other reach their goals. Im planning on owning this challenge!


OK well now im 52 so i thought i would post an update. Ive been on FS for a little over a month now and have successfully lost 12 lbs. I have learned a whole lot about food nutrition and am now learning all about exercise, both cardio and strength training. I get so excited when i go to bed at night because tomorrow i get 1200 more calories to spend! I cant believe I get to start over every day! I do weigh myself everyday because i want to stay on top of it if i do something wrong. And im kinda sorta getting the hang of the nutrition wheel. It was touch and go for a while there lol. When I go food shopping I read all the labels and discover new things all the time. Of course I want to try all kinds of things recommended by everyone here on FS. Fatsecret! Thank you for being here when i wanted to know the calories of a mango. You have changed my life!

POPCORN!
I need a good way to make a low calorie popcorn at home. I was hoping to buy kernels and pop them without the oil and save some calories. Anybody have any ideas? I have heard about putting kernels in a paper bag in the microwave but didnt know if that would work.

i started out weighing 173. i have limited my calories to 1200 per day with focus on protein between 70 and 100 grams per day. I try to not eat any sugar or processed carbs. i do have some on occasion. ive done very well so far. I do think i could eat a couple hundred more calories per day and lose slower. its all in what pace you want to choose. i agree that 1900 is too much, especially if you arent burning any calories through exercise

Gaining a bit before reaching goal
i have slowed the weight loss way down as ive come so close to reaching my goal. i splurge (not too badly) every now and then now and that has kept me from reaching my goal more quickly. i actually dont mind so much as long as im not gaining. i just want to make it through the holidays alive lol

The Allowable Calories On This Site Seem High
try freedieting.com for a more accurate calorie total. that sounds crazy high

whey protein powder in skim milk! and i love greek yogurt. I eat chicken breast, almonds, pistachios and low fat cottage cheese
