My name is Spencer, and I am 21-years-old. I am a college English professor, and I will be attending Texas Tech University in the fall to obtain my Masters in Spanish. In December of my senior year of high school I weighed 137 lbs. (I was the school mascot), but by graduation I weighed 155, and my weight has fluctuated tremendously ever since. I've never really dieted or had a consistent exercise or weight-loss plan, but a few months ago, my boyfriend and I decided to live healthier lives. We spent a great amount of time researching and we found something that worked for us, but when he was unable to exercise for two weeks because of an illness, we both lost our motivation and haven't been able to get it back. I'm hoping that using the forums on FatSecret, I'll be able to maintain my goals and keep myself accountable. For right now, I want to tone and get back down to 140, but I hope to eventually weigh my recommended 130 pounds.

good things with lots of calories
Beans are good for you and pretty high in calories too. I like Ranch Style beans or making tacos with refried beans and cheddar cheese. WAY to many calories to eat on a normal day, but still pretty healthy if you don't cook them with any grease.

Too much success?
I'm just wondering if anybody else is experiencing a situation similar to mine, and if so, how do you deal? I've actively been trying to get healthy and lose excess fat/gain muscle since April, as has my 17 yr. old sister. She is 5'2" and weighs 150 due to the amount of muscle she has gained at the gym (I mean, the girl can do 30 pushups in a row without sweating and beats her track coach in races). I'm 5'7" and have gained little noticeable muscle (I will one day do a real push up!), but I have gone from 176 to 158. I feel somewhat guilty talking to her about my success because I know she has such low self-esteem and is bothered by her weight (even though I've told her that her muscle is what is affecting the scale, not fat). She is actually very trim... I guess I'm just bothered because we've always been there for each other and now I feel like I can't talk to her anymore about my workouts. Anyone in a similar situation?

just wondering...(girl question :p)
Note to large-breasted ladies: never (ever ever) buy bras from a department store. They are trained to SELL bras, not fit them. If you are an F, the will tell you that their DD is the same if you get a larger band size, but this is NOT true. Take care of your ta-tas and get yourself to a store that only sells bras and has them in a wide range of sizes. I am a 32 HHH and my breasts are sitting happy in turquoise lace. Smile Also, a sports bra should not be able to be pulled over your head if you are larger than an E. They have awesome ones that hook in the back--mine's made for horseback riding!

The importance Of your Skin!!!!
I went camping a few weekends ago, and I used a whole bottle of sunscreen (SPF 50!!!!). I still got burned, but not as bad as I did on the last family camping trip!
