Hello! So for those of you who are curious, I am a 34 year old woman who works overnights in an animal emergency/critical care hospital and during the daytime helps manage a tattoo shop... so I'm usually very busy. My children consist of an extremely old chihuahua, a year old king charles spaniel (blind) and several special needs felines, all of who bring me hours of joy (and work, lol). I was once very fit and active, but after buying a "fixer-uper" house and starting the tattoo business with my roomie... exercise and good eating habits went right out the door and in came Wendy's late night and the 24hour Burger King.

So 50lbs or more later, I'm trying to regain control of my eating habits and overall my life, and am looking forward to meeting other people with the same goals!!

Shift Work?
I work shift work and it is pretty hard to stay on a decent eating schedule. Since my shifts are not back to back it is probably easier for me, because when I come home, i only nap for 2-4 hours than make myself get up and function.

I just eat my breakfast when i get up (on the days I work that can be as late as 12p) and try to not eat past 12a. I may take in less calories that day, but I haven't found a perfect way around it yet. I don't eat carbs after 8p... so I'll pack veggies and a salad to get me through the late night. Then I try to have breakfast when I get home, sometimes that is just a can of slimfast (lower carb again) on the way home or eggs ontop of a spinach and asparagus salad. I'll eat more carb heavy when I get up to give me energy to work out and get my chores done... and it's been working for the last few weeks. I found this has not too badly influenced my weight, but I am sure it would be much harder if I worked a few days in a row and slept past 12p. (which I have done before, just am not doing now).

I don't know how you fit your diabetis in there, or if just eating low sugar is enough. (are you insulin dependant?) But I really believe you can't go wrong with a big spinach salad with some lean protien, fat free or low fat cheese and loads of veggies. I have become very fond of some of the flavor pouches of tuna... some are very flavorful, low in fat and calories, and will keep me from dumping dressing all over the salad... sometimes I don't use dressing at all!!

Hope this helps! I'm curious to see how you do! Write me if you have more questions, I'd be glad to try and help!

Wii Fit
My only comment would be.... I wish they would have a step that is longer and faster than the advanced step, and I wish they had a boxing that was longer than 10 min.

The best part about wii is the downloading potential so I am hoping eventually the wii peeps will add an extension package that will include some longer faster and maybe even different exercises.

And has anyone got to the meditation exercise for balance?? Wow... It's amazing how much ya move when your sitting crossed legged! It took me several times to finally complete this task, when I thought I'd be able to do it first time out!!Laughing

Wii Fit
I LOVE my wii fit!! It takes my tendancy towards obsession and turns in into something positive! Instead of turning to food, I now find myself obsessive about getting onto my wii fit and exercising!! And my family has a little competition going between several of the exercises, which is great... because the end result is some nights I can be doing these game/exercises for an hour or more and never realize how much time has passed!

The wii fit has really helped me step up to the plate and put my fitness first. It has been the best fitness product I have ever bought! I wouldn't trade it in for anything!
