I am in my mid-50s and would like to lose 40 to 50 pounds. This is the same 40 to 50 pounds I have been gaining and losing all my life. Now I'm starting to have some health problems, made worse by my weight. I really want to live an active lifestyle without pain. Losing weight and keeping it off is critical for me at this time in my life. I am on a low carb, high fiber, high protein diet of 1,500 calories or less per day. Since Jan 1st. I have averaged about 1400 calories a day and have lost 8 lbs. Glad to have a group of people with similar goals!

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
During my weight loss I have weighed in once a week. I try to make it consistent and prefer mid-week, but if I'm traveling that can change. Once I hit my goal weight, I plan to weigh 2-3 times per week for awhile. If I start to gain, I don't want to wait a whole week to find out.

Christi, I found this in FAQs.
How do I add a weight loss ticker?
Go to your "My FatSecret" page and in "my toolbox" box click on "my signature". Once there, check the "show ticker" box and click on "save". Your ticker will be automatically updated each time you weigh in to FatSecret and can be added to other blogs, websites or forums.

CRAVINGS - How do you deal with them.
I have given up diet soda but instead will have a Crystal Light if I have cravings or just want something will a lot of flavor. I limit myself to one packet a day, and try not to drink it everyday. I like the Lemonade flavor because it is really strong.
