Start Weight

Lost so far: 5.6 lb

Current Weight
146.4 lb
Performance: losing 11.2 lb a week

Goal Weight
110.0 lb
Still to go: 36.4 lb
4 years ago I quit smoking then two months later I got pregnant. I gained 15 pounds in the 2 months after stopping smoking. The pregnancy added on another 30 pounds. After the birth, I went down to 150. And here I sit 3 years later at 152 pounds. I have decided to loose weight the right way with proper diet and exercise. My goal is 130 to start with and I would love to get back to 115 which is what I was 5 years ago. But at that time I was pretty much just smoking my life away and barely eating, so yeah, that wasn't healthy. I am determined and I am doing this for MYSELF. I have already lost down to 147 and this is my 2nd week on this diet. I am accounting for all my foods/snacks (stay away from sugar free candy-very high in carbs lol)/drinks. This has helped me see where the weight is coming from. I have increased my water intake and drinking the minimum of 8 glasses a day and I feel great. I have improved my flexibility and I don't feel like I want to rest all the time!

I have lost 22 pounds and met my original goal. I joined this site about 11 weeks ago. I learned so much from different things I have read on here. I joined some challenges. I first joined a challenge that had me exercise on my wii 3 days a week. Then I joined one to drink 64 oz of water a day. Then I joined Hungry No More. That challenged changed everything for me. I learned how to eat properly and not get hungry. I have learned that to be successful, I have to take the time and plan for that success. I am planning on making my diet public as soon as I am able to enter everything. At present there is a glitch that isn't saving the info I put in. Thanks to everyone who has helped me in my success!

After my initial goal of 130, I reset the goal to 115. I almost made it. On March 20, 2010 I hit 116.2! It took 6 months. BUT on March 19, 2010 I found out I am pregnant! So far so good. I am 9 weeks and have gained 3 pounds.

hungry soon after eating.
I just looked at the last 5 days on your diet calendar and I see that you don't eat a lot of protein.

Try first of all to eat more for breakfast than milk lol. Try adding a scrambled egg or egg white with maybe some fat free cheese. I eat a scrambled egg white scrambled with nonstick spray. Then I put some fat free cheese on it and let it melt while I toast my whole wheat english muffin. I put soe sugar free preserves on my muffin, add my egg with cheese and voila! BREAKFAST is served! I usually have some orange juice with mine or coffee.

Try to concentrate on more proteins and steer away from those fats. I noticed mixed nuts! I wish they would sell those in single serving packages because I can't pick up a can without eating 5 servings, so I steer clear. I know they are healthy fats, but we have to use moderation with everything. If you eat nuts, measure out one serving and that's it! walk away---if you can.

If I am still hungry I drink a glass of water and 30 minutes later if I am still hungry I eat a tbsp of peanut butter, drink a glass of nonfat milk, eat some low fat cheese slices, have a piece of fresh fruit, etc. My standby for protein booster is tunafish. I keep it in the fridge for days when I am already hungry but meal time isn't close enough. I hope something here helps you out.

carbohydrates...proteins..fats
The simplest way I can explain it is this: Protein helps build muscles which burn fat (that's what we want right!) and your body burns more calories digesting the protein than a fat or a carb.

Good fats are necessary for our digestive system, but bad fats get stored as fat (simple explanation not scientific).

Carbs-refined carbs found in white breads, white tortillas, white pastas and rice are much like sodas and sugary foods. They give you a sudden burst of energy for your body to use, but the body doesn't have to work hard to use it so the benefits are short lived (hence the term "sugar high"Wink and if you have too many of these bad carbs at a meal the excess carbs are stored as body fat (we are trying to rid these right!). Complex carbs take the body some work to work off such as fresh fruits and veggies and whole wheat products breads, tortillas, pastas, and brown rice.

ok so long story short version-you could lose weight eating cookies, but a: it might not last since as soon as you are off your cookie diet you will go back to unhealthy habits that got you overweight to begin with, b: you didn't learn any healthy eating habits to continue with along the way, c: you will lose weight more steadily (1-2 pounds a week) and tend to keep at it since you are seeing results. I personally found that when I ate/eat the bad foods my gains are crushing blows. I did so well for 7-8 months then I tok 10 days off my healthy eating and exercise program to visit my husband's family and my family and guess what happened: 119 to 127 in 10 days. I ate fried chicken twice, pizza 3 times, burgers twice, and I didn't exercise. We got into the "too busy" mode and ate out instead of cooking since we were doing some work that required us to work all day long. TAco Bell was our lunch many days there. So see I speak from experience. You don't have to change all your habits to lose weight, but the government guidlines are 50% carbs, 30% protein and only 20% fat I believe. Biggest loser promotes 45% carbs, 30% protein and 25% fat (healthy fat). I was pretty strict about this when I was seriously losing weight. Once I got the weight off I relaxed about the carbs BUT I still keep my fat below 20%, eat lots of protein, and only eat good carbs (excpet when eating out which I do every Wednesday-I have a chicken burrito with no sauces or cheese and refried beans with no cheese and a salad without dressing or cheese).

foods you had no idea where THAT bad!
6 years ago while going through my divorce, my standard lunch on my way to work was Mcondald's Double cheese burger, large fries and large Dr. Pepper. 1310 CALORIES! 49g fat! No wonder I blew up like a balloon lol. now if I have to do McDonald's I get 2 ranch chicken wraps (since they dont see plain!) and I have them hold the ranch and cheese. Then I get the two of them, I open both, remove all the food off of one and put it on the other. This way I only have one of the tortilla. Now if they would only serve a whole wheat tortilla! I never get thte fries and I get a water! Much healthier alternative. It's no wonder we live in a nation where obesity is so rampant. I am so glad to have made the simple changes to change my life!

Fiber - I had it all wrong!
put the black beans in a crock pot with your favorite seasonings (except salt) and cook on low for 8 hours. Stir in a can of rotel and add salt to taste!YUMMY I make them up and have them as a side with any mexican meals I cook instead of refried beans.
