Are you getting a good protein source with every meal? Protein and fiber rich foods should keep you feeling fuller longer.

I just looked at the last 5 days on your diet calendar and I see that you don't eat a lot of protein.

Try first of all to eat more for breakfast than milk lol. Try adding a scrambled egg or egg white with maybe some fat free cheese. I eat a scrambled egg white scrambled with nonstick spray. Then I put some fat free cheese on it and let it melt while I toast my whole wheat english muffin. I put soe sugar free preserves on my muffin, add my egg with cheese and voila! BREAKFAST is served! I usually have some orange juice with mine or coffee.

Try to concentrate on more proteins and steer away from those fats. I noticed mixed nuts! I wish they would sell those in single serving packages because I can't pick up a can without eating 5 servings, so I steer clear. I know they are healthy fats, but we have to use moderation with everything. If you eat nuts, measure out one serving and that's it! walk away---if you can.

If I am still hungry I drink a glass of water and 30 minutes later if I am still hungry I eat a tbsp of peanut butter, drink a glass of nonfat milk, eat some low fat cheese slices, have a piece of fresh fruit, etc. My standby for protein booster is tunafish. I keep it in the fridge for days when I am already hungry but meal time isn't close enough. I hope something here helps you out.

Actually they do. Emerald sells walnuts and almonds in 100 cal packs. I have them and they are great!

I agree with everyone else. Protein and fat will make you feel full longer than carbohydrates. I eat a lot of nuts. They are a great vegetarian source of protein and fat. I weigh out 1 portion and put the rest away, just like I do with all high cal items Smile

I've discovered a few tricks that help a ton.

#1 ALWAYS have protien in your breakfast. Wether its peanutbutter, sausage, eggs, bacon, get in some type of protien.
What works best for me is 2 or 3 eggs with a peice of whole wheat toast, buttered. That little bit of fat from the butter also helps keep you full longer.

#2 Quit diet drinks. The artificial sweetener causes cravings that are almost impossible to fight. they make you feel like you're starving when you arent even hungry, which definitley leads to over eating.
If your one of those people that drinks 5 diet cokes a day, cut back gradually, replace them with tea or coffee if its the caffine you need.

#3 keep healthy snacks with you at all times.
Right now i have one bag of pretzel thins, one bag of whole wheat pita chips, a bag of soy nuts and a bag of almonds in my desk drawer. Just in case i cant fight that between breakfast and morning snack urge, i reach for something healthy. IF you absolutley have to snack, just make sure it is something with protien (nuts, cheese, yougurt), it will help you feel more satisfied.

Also, how much water are you drinking? Sometimes our bodies can actually confuse hunger and thirst; are you getting @ least 8 glasses a day?

For sure it's the carbs you are eating. Get a book called The Formula by Gene Daoust. They give you meal plans using real food and it is amazing how you just are not hungry. When you are hungry quickly after eating, it is because you are spiking your blood sugar levels with carbs and then the blood sugars drop dramatically you are feel like you are staving.

To me, it seems like your getting a good amount of protein(for some of you meals)-however I only looked at a few days of your calendar. I usually go for 50-60% Carbs, 25-30% Protein, 10-25% Fats. However I agree with everyone above, make sure you are eating enough proteins! Eat more breakfast! I honestly think breakfast can make or break your day.

Also, sometimes, when I know I'm 'dieting'. I have a hard time keeping my mind off of it. I think I'm hungry when I know I shouldn't be. I take advice from 'The Biggest Loser' and grab a stick of 5 cal gum. It takes my mind off of food until my next meal.

Not everyone's a fan, but there are 15 grams of protein in some of the Greek yogurts. I like it plain but a lot of people I know throw some berries in it and say it's better. Another add in for it are the cocoa covered almonds. I think Diamond makes them. You put them in the yogurt, let them sit a minute, mix them and you're good to go.

Fat free cottage cheese with some sugar free jelly. Lots of protein. Also, try roasted/salted soy nuts. They have more protein than regular nuts and they're more crunchy, so you get that "potato chip" like fix.

hard boiled egg whites are only 17 calories each, and 3.5 grams of protien. just pop the yolk out. i like ranch popcorn powder on mine.

also you can get yogurt-sized snack cups of cottage cheese. when im hungry between meals i eat one of those and an apple, the apple takes a while to eat, has a satisfying crunch and is juicy.

try greek yogurt (double the protein than regular yogurt) or string cheese. Also laughing cow cheese (35 kcal per wedge) over an apple or pretzel thins. You can try making tuna salad out of avocado and canned tuna (no mayo) it's packed with protein and omega 3's (then eat it with pretzel thins instead of over bread like a sandwich, this makes you eat it slower and you end up with less carbs) Hope this helps!

It's the carbs! Try & eat more complex carbs & to reduce the daily levels to around 130g of net carbs a day.

OOOOO Samantha, tuna salad with avocado? Sounds devine. Do you put anything else in it? I'm really into avocados these days. The good fats and fiber in the avocado cause me to feel full way longer.

Weight Watchers dropped the number of calories you could have the smaller you were. I would try dropping calories to 1200 per day.
