Starting Again
I'm right there with you... The restarting thing. I honestly think this is number 5 or 6 for me since 2008. I fluctuate a lot. I'm doing calorie deficit plus exercise. It worked well for me a few years ago before I got pregnant. My primary concerns are building energy and getting my BP down to an actual healthy rate.

Anyway, best of luck!

I don't want to lose weight because then I'll be noticed and greeted by people.
I was an awkward teenager (who wasn't though, right?), who didn't get attention from the male sex, and the attention from females was often negative. I was also incredibly skinny. Not unhealthy, just super, duper skinny. Male attention didn't really start until I was 17, but it was all from older men. Naturally, I ate it up. Slowly, I learned how to manipulate and use my sexuality, and absolutely craved attention.

I started gaining weight when I was about 20, but it was healthy, just adding curves and making the attention grow. At 22, I realized that I was 150 lbs, and looking a bit chubby due to an unhappy relationship/life, but I ended things and started eating healthily and working out. I got down to 130, which is my happy weight. Now, at 26, I'm nearly 200 lbs, and I can't stand the way I look. Honestly, I CRAVE that attention again. My husband says I'm beautiful and sexy, but a small part of me is sad and feel a little worthless because I don't get attention anymore.

It's irrational, and I don't want to get fit for the attention, but I miss it. I don't want my validation to be dependent on other people, so I try to remind myself everyday, I'm happy in my marriage, my life is pretty great, and my personal health and fitness are important to keep those two things true. I also want kids, but I want a healthy body before I do. THESE are the important things.

I suppose it's the same for you, just opposite. Try to remind yourself that your motivation should be YOU and YOUR GOALS, and try not to react to other people's view of you.
