Poll..How many are trying to just lose weight
I actually changed my eating habits months before i started this "diet".....I replaced all the diet soda i drank with water. I've been drinking 68 - 85 oz a day on average. We quit buying "prepared" meals (frozen meals from sam's for example - like chicken enchiladas) a long time ago. We decided we wanted to KNOW whats in our food, so if we want chicken enchiladas....I MAKE THEM! stew a fresh chicken...use fresh veggies when possible....etc etc etc. It is RARE we ever eat fast food, as you mention, only rarely when we're traveling or its a rare treat. We had a "date" night a few weeks ago and drove to the nearest town with a sonic (i live in a very small town now that i remarried almost 2 years ago) and had something there about 8 weeks ago. Other than that - with $$$ being tight, there is no money for eating all that crappy fast food. I suppose we do order a pizza occassionally too but i usually make that too. It's just a matter of choices. So if we want a hamburger, I GRILL THEM....add all the fresh veggies and it's SOOOOO much better than McDonalds or elsewhere! So now the move was to HOW MUCH i was eating. I love cheese and butter (whole foods lol) but was using WAY too much. As i've gotten older, sweets don't have the appeal they used to. I'm good with that - but cutting way way down on the cheese has been difficult but i'm making it. So i was on the right track BEFORE i began this diet. Then i quit smoking last spring, so waited to start the diet until my body went through that stress! I am happy to report - by changing up my diet to "non crappy" food for the most part - i actually didn't gain any weight when i quit smoking which is unusual......it does mess with your metabolism......now for the weight! i've done pretty darn good - 2 weeks down about 8 lbs......but i fell off wagon last weekend and need to get back up and on it and NOT beat myself up about it..............it just gets depressing sometimes....especially when i have a husband than actually needs to gain about 15 lbs......he has a metabolism that is the speed of light. he is so supportive but i must cook for him (healthy still but he needs mucho calories a day or he loses weight)......life just isn't fair sometimes lol! thanks for your post - and i agree 100% with your thoughts!

P.S. oh and i've even replaced mayo on any REAL FOOD SANDWICH i take for my lunch with hummus! still fat in it, but good fiber and adds a very nice flavor to your sandwich or wrap without 100% FAT..........works for me anyway..........then pile on as many veggies as you want to that sandwich....i love MUSHROOMS, ONIONS, TOMATOES, PICKLES, BLACK OLIVES.........bring them on!
