I'm a 32yr old dad that wants to get back to a healthy, active weight. I love to cook, camp, hike, play disc golf, read music autobiographies, play dominoes, and play music. After dealing with back and neck issues over the last few years, my activity level went from working out 4 or 5 days a week to almost totally sedentary. I'm ready to make real changes to see results! I'm not in this for the quick fix, but for the long-term benefits of my health.

One of the things that I hate about being fat is that I sweat so damn much because I get hot so easily! Being a musician, I play clubs, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties, etc. It never fails that regardless of the setting or energy level exerted, I'm always hot and sweaty after playing!! Not sexy!! I actually get self-conscious about it and can sometimes focus on that instead of the music. It's an insecurity for me that is tied to me not being happy about my weight. The choices I'm making now regarding my weight and health are helping to put those insecurities into perspective and give me the power to control my own future.

I've already met a few awesome people here and look forward to meeting many more!

Green tea and weight loss
Costco's Kirkland Green Tea is really good! If anything, besides the antioxidant benefits, I just notice that drinking tea through out the day helps me feel fuller longer. It's 0 calories and I find that helps tide me over between meals or snacks. I definitely feel like it helps me from over eating.

RDI Help
Chelle...

It means you are at 85% of your Recommended Daily Intake. Now whether it's a good thing or not depends on where your RDI is set. Many of us have our RDIs set to a number below the number of calories we need to maintain weight. Essentially, that's how you lose weight: burning more calories than you take in. You can achieve this by either increasing your activity to burn calories, reduce your calorie intake, or a combination of both.

Your RDI is simply the number of calories you are aiming to hit per day. The lower your RDI, the lower your calorie intake. If you've calculated what you want your RDI to be to achieve your health and fitness goals, then you should aim to hit 100% of your RDI. While being under may seem like a good thing, it may also mean that you're not getting enough calories, especially if you're still hungry. If you are consistently hitting below your RDI and you're not hungry and you are progressing towards your goal, you may want to adjust your RDI lower so that you are actually hitting 100%. In the end, your RDI is just a means to help you achieve your goal.
