I'm 67, retired, and overall pretty healthy except I have arthritis & it seems to slowly get worse. Since about the age of 40, I have always gained weight quickly. I have been able to lose it quickly, but have to really cut a lot of calories & exercise a lot. Once when I was 45 I lost 100 lbs in 3 mos. It was the first time I tried Atkins Diet. When I lose weight & get back to normal for my age & height, I try to eat a normal healthy diet, never overdue it. But I always gain weight on "normal" diets.
I like reading, history, gardening, building things, working with wood. I used to like going out on weekends, dancing, shooting pool, & having a few drinks. I've cut out the drinking now for over 20 yrs.
My wife still works, she & I like taking short trips, riding back roads we've never travelled before. We spend a lot of time with our kids & grandkids. Go to church most Sunday's. That's about it. Will add more if I think of anything else.

Food
krystynecar, I agree, it doesn't take a lot to survive. Our ancestor's taught us how to eat to stay healthy, but many of us never drink water or eat natural foods. Keep up the healthy, natural way to eat, it's kept me up a long time.

Constipation issues
I've been doing low carb for over 20 years, occasionally have had constipation. Not very often though. I take Magnesium daily, eat salads, and put Chia Seeds on all my food. If I need it, I'll drink a cup of Senna Tea, but no more than a cup or two every 30 days. I also drink about a gallon of water a day.

Food
I've been on the Keto 30 diet for about 22 days now. The carb count never goes over 20 grams. Most of the days, the recipes are easy & tasty. Had Pizza Quiche for breakfast, Canadian Cheddar Soup for lunch, and broiled Haddock for dinner. About 800 calories, & 16 grams of carbs. For me it is good, may not be for everybody. I've been told I don't eat enough calories. Well if I eat over 1200 calories a day, I'll gain a pound a day. But we all must do what we know works for us, we're all different.

Where is everyone from?
Northeast NC, small town. A lot of my meat products from hunting & local farms. Grow my own vegs, mostly. Raise my own chickens for eggs, & meat. The only grocery stores here are Food lion & Piggly Wiggly. Some foods I buy online.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
WEBMD gives the following advice "People who succeed at losing weight and keeping it off weigh themselves often, research shows. A step on the scale at least once a week seems to build awareness best.
Don't stress if the number on the scale goes up and down: Weight can change by several pounds over the course of a few days as water weight shifts."
