I've been using FatSecret since May, 2007. So I thought I should update my bio to reflect that....

====New Bio=====
56 year old male. I'm 6 feet tall and currently weighing in around 189. A couple years ago I finally hit my goal weight of 180. That's 25 pounds less than I weighed when I joined FatSecret in 2007. I gained a bit back this year, but I'm going to work it back down. I reset my goal to 178. I'd like to fluctuate around 180, so if I get my weight down to 178 I think I can manage that.

Wow -- I can't believe I've been using FatSecret for almost 8 years. FatSecret is great! It's been a big part of my success in losing weight and staying healthy.



=============Previous Bio=======
49 year old male. I'm in fairly good shape, but I'm having a hard time knocking off the last 9 pounds of my goal. When I joined fatsecret in May 2007 I weighed 205. I wanted to get down to 185 at least and ideally 180. I was able to get down to 185 for my high school reunion (hahahahaha) but since then I've bounced around from 186 - 193, mostly hovering around 189. The weight loss has been great for me. I feel better and I look better. But I still want to finish the plan, and maintain in the 180-185 range.

I'm a huge fan of fatsecret. It's a great site. I've told all my friends and family about it. I've become very fond of my "diet buddies". They're a great bunch and they're a constant source of support and inspiration.

48 year old male. Not in really bad shape, but I'd like to lose 20-25 lbs. That would move me from 205 to 180. I've used the South Beach before -- got as low as 186 once. I exercise fairly regularly and try to eat healthy foods. I like the South Beach because it seems sensible and effective.

Avoiding Food At A Party
Any tricks to not "grazing" through food at a party? I have a hard time saying "no thanks" when attractive appetizers are thrust at me at a party. Plus, I visit the food areas at a party to excuse myself from a conversation, and to give myself something to do. One suggestion from a diet buddy (thanks buddy!) was to eat before I go. Excellent idea. That takes care of the hunger reason for eating, but that's often not the reason I'm eating.

Buddies?
You're right, getting the sodas out of your life will help, especially the ones with sugar or corn syrup. Try some easy exercise to start -- take walks. Are there any sports you like to play? Any exercise is better than sitting on the couch. As far as getting buddies, just make a buddy request. I've never had anyone turn me down.
