Does weighing daily help or hurt?
It's been useful to me. I try to weigh daily, in a consistent manner: get up in the morning, pee, then weigh with pretty much the same clothes on. That way I remove many random factors. Plus, you do need a good, consistent scale. When I weigh in a couple of times on mine (just to check within min of each other), it shows pretty much the same weight, and shifting back and forth does not change it (unless I lean on the wall
. Precise within 0.2lb, got it for $20 or so, so it does not have to be expensive. And yeah, if you weigh at different times of the day you will see different weights, that's why I try to pick a fixed time.

Craving sweet foods
I had a drastic change of diet over the summer, due to digestive system problem. While eating a lot less, I noticed the following about sugars:
Some sugars make me crave more food, others do not. Essentially, all refined sugar, plus apples and grapes - I eat them, and 10 min later I am hungry. Honey, peaches, nectarines, plums - nothing like that, eat them, they are sweet, but don't want another one for a while.
The moral - sugars are different. See what works for you.
