Massage therapist, animal loving vegan, environmentalist, feminist that enjoys hiking, movies, bicycling, reading, and adventures (both outdoors and in the city). I went on my first diet around the age of 12. I've struggled with my weight and junk food addiction my whole life. My goal is more than just a number on the scale. It is to be in the truest state of health that is the birth right of every human animal. I have recently completed Cornell University's plant based nutrition certificate program in my quest for nutritional excellence.

It's gonna work this time!
Hey L. Welcome aboard the weight loss train. You sound a lot like how I felt last year. I committed to losing 60 lbs, figured it was do-able, last April. I, too, didn't want to go on another "Diet," either. I started looking around my town and on the web for people that had done 3 things; 1. lost a sizeable amount of weight, 2. kept it off for a long time, and 3. improved their health in the process. I didn't find too many of those at first so I looked at people that had helped others do those 3 things. I tried on many different plans those first 6 months and lost about 15 lbs in the process. Then I discovered Bright Line Eating on November 1st. I've lost 45 lbs (as of this morning) since November and I have totally changed my relationship to food. I AM this leaner and happier person. I have finally, after 40 years of searching, found my answer. It might be something that would fit the bill for you, too. Check it out at www.brightlineeating.com. It's run by neuroscientist Susan Peirce Thompson, who herself lost 60 lbs and kept it off for over a decade now. She used to be in an OA group where she learned behavioral changes towards specific trigger foods. There is a quick 5 question quiz on the website that will tell you how susceptible you are to certain triggers, like flour and sugar. Go check it out and see if it could help you, too. Wishing you all the best on your new commitment and journey to the lean side. Smile

A Thanksgiving verse for today
The Bright Lines are my Shepherd; I shall not crave

They restoreth my soul: they leadeth me in the paths of right eating.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of Thanksgiving, I will fear no pumpkin pie: for they art with me; my sweet potatoes and green beans they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine food addictions: thou anointest my head with clarity; my cup runneth over.

Surely good eating habits and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of freedom from sugar and flour addiction for ever.
