Time for a new bio again, since I gained back a bit and am now finally losing again!
I'm 40 and recently married for the first time. I've struggled with weight ever since my 20s because I love to eat and used to hate exercise. I've changed a lot but still haven't completely conquered my cravings for sugar and gluten.
I live in Virginia on a farm with DH, 3 cats, and 4 horses. We are lucky to have lots of local fresh foods, meat, veggies, etc. and that has really contributed to my health!! I still love the Virgin Diet but right now I'm focusing on the Whole30 diet with a friend and it is WORKING.
I love running, yoga, and horseback riding, and am adding burst training and weight training to the mix.

headache first few days on Atkins
Chicken broth (the kind that comes in a box)! It's suggested as a cure for the early Atkins headaches, and sure enough, it worked for me (and not a moment too soon, headaches were awful!)!

fat acceptance article
This is an interesting thread. I do believe that we should learn to love ourselves, no matter our outward appearance, and that we are all beautiful. And I believe that people can be healthy without being stick-thin--In fact I am SO MUCH HEALTHIER now than I was years ago when I weighed 30 lbs less, because I have worked hard, exercised, and live better and more positively overall.
But I also think that, at least in my case, my obesity was just a visual effect of my other inside issues. So if I were to give in and just celebrate my fat weight, and indulge whenever I felt like it, I wouldn't be addressing all the issues that caused me to be overweight in the first place. I think that is the case for a lot of people.

Transitioning from Atkins to Weight Watchers, Please help!
Have to chime in a big Amen to mayormaynot's comment. I recently tried to go from the OWL phase of Atkins to pre-maintenance. Adding ANY kind of grain OR sugar back into my diet does not work for me at all, in no time I was eating six red velvet cupcakes and an entire mini lemon raspberry cake in one sitting. I may be one of those people who can never eat grains without that effect. And that's OK. There are plenty of foods I can enjoy and still lose the weight. And you will know what works best for you, just trust your body to tell you! Very Happy

Transitioning from Atkins to Weight Watchers, Please help!
The only thing I can add is that I know personally folks who have had great success with Weight Watchers! However, it just didn't work at ALL for me, whereas Atkins did and does. I have had trouble with my doctor disapproving of low-carb as well, I hear this is a common occurence. You might take a look at the book Atkins For Life, which explains how to carry on with low-carb once you have gotten to your goal weight. In any case, this is just my own experience. Good luck, whatever you decide!
