Ive had a long job career where I spent long hours in meetings and sitting in front of the computer. Over time I gained far too much weight and developed a lot of painful arthritis in my knees, hips, back and shoulders.

Grrrrr! I'm not gonna spend the rest of my life bent over hobbling around like champanzee. Time to get things back on track!

I'm gonna get my BMI back to healthy 22 and get my muscles back in shape to support my joints properly.

Am I Stupid?
Its never a bad time to start taking care of your health!

Its ok to eat a little bit of holiday yummies. The key is to keep everything in moderation. Take small portions, eat slowly, go easy on the drinks.

If the host offers you some goodies, be gracious and ask for a very small serving, you are not obliged to have to eat all of it either.

This is the season to celebrate and it only happens once a year, so don't make yourself unhappy worrying about food, instead think about the good times coming up. Enjoy the company of friends and family spend more time chatting, laughing, dancing, and kisses under the mistletoe (If you are busy doing those sorts of things, less likely the host will offer you food... hehe!)

Hummus
Theres Trader Joe's close to where I live, so I got to try all their different hummus and I like them all, but I think the one with roasted red peppers is my fav.

Atkins misconceptions

Like politics, sex and religion, I tend to avoid the subject of diet plans. People have their own views (right or wrong) and it often seems to end up with everyone getting emotional and no ever leaves the conversation happy.

Its nice at Fatsecret we can share our views about eating and helping each other without all the drama.

portion control! ack!

Try eating 6 small meals spread across the day (instead of 3 big meals), that way you never have to go long period time without eating.

Using smaller plates helps to keep food portion sized right.

Late night munchies ... If the weather cold, I like to drink some hot tea or broth, if the weathers hot I like crystal light or some V8.

Or... I skip snacks completely and do something fun and distracting, like fire up a video game, tease cat with his favorite piece of string, pounce on my boyfriend (tee hee!)
