Shin Splints
WebMD says to not push through them. You've got to give time for the underlying issue to heal, and it could be hairline fractures of your leg bone! Go to your doctor and ask her or his advice about the best course forward.

Low-sodium
Oh, I feel your pain. I'm not on a restricted sodium diet, though. I'm just trying to get under the recommended level of sodium -- 2300 mg a day. I don't add salt to anything I cook, not even the water to boil the rice. My little treat is a tablespoon of light butter with canola oil for my dinner vegis, but that's only 90 mg of sodium.

But eating out is just crazy. For instance, I go to my friendly neighborhood Whataburger and get the grilled chicken sandwich, side salad instead of fries, and a drink. Yes, the grilled chicken is going to bite off a huge portion of that 2300, but I didn't get the fries, right?

Right. So I'm plugging in the numbers for the low-fat vinagriette, and I'm stunned to realize that I would have gotten only one-quarter of the sodium if I had crumbled two slices of bacon over the salad.

BACON, PEOPLE. There was more sodium in that package of dressing than there is in a Whataburger! That's totally insane!

So keep on keeping on. It's just not worth it to eat out with those kind of numbers, and prepared frozen dinners are not much better.

How long did you do Atkins Induction?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Induction is the first stage, which is the most extreme? The first thing I would say is go to your doctor and ask her or him how long you should be on Induction, and the second piece of non-authoritative advice is no longer than two weeks. But, seriously, if you have that much weight to lose, talk to your doctor about this.
