Been getting ready for a Ladies Day hosted by our church. My sister and I baked, filled, and decorated cupcakes until the wee hours of the morning. It is 20 miles from her house to mine and I hit a deer on the way home!! Dang it! The car is still drivable so at least I wasn't stranded out in the country at 2 o'clock in the morning, and I was not injured so I am grateful for that. Poor deer was still flailing around trying to get up went I drove off. I didn't have a weapon to end her suffering. She wasn't still laying there when I went by this morning, so perhaps she survived, but I doubt it. I've been very lucky, all these years living in the country and this is the first deer I've hit, hope it's the last. To add insult to injury I lost the diamond out of one of my favorite rings today. Hubby gave it to me for our 40th wedding anniversary. *deep sigh*

What a shame about the deer. Wish I was there. I would of taken home and canned. The highway patrol in my state calls this poaching. They would rather have all that good meat just lay there and rot. I bet someone took such a wonderful find home and it's now in 48 pint canning jars for winter

glad you are alright. we have a lot of deer around here also. I have been so blessed that I haven't hit one yet. I always slow down at dark when I see them on the side of the road. never know which way they are going to run off.

Glad you weren't injured and got home okay. You must have been lucky and probably careful too I would think not to have hit one before. They do just jump out onto the road, don't they? We hit a possum in Georgia, but everyone said that was a good thing!
