Ok so met with nutritionist on Wednesday and Im happy and disappointed with the way it went. Happy bc she said I was doing a lot of the right things but sad bc I wanted a meal plan or to be told what to eat. Instead she gave me some guidelines, and the usual things to avoid and told me I was to work on trusting myself more to make the right decisions and all that. Imagine that? Ive had the power all along.. LOL.. SO based off our conversation, Ive made the following changes..
1.I started working out in the am instead of pm.. I rather enjoy this
2. Added the protein shake back in but found a vegan alternative that doesn't mess with my tummy and am having that after my work out with almond milk. Im really loving this. Its called Vega, and its great stuff..
3. waiting an hour after that shake for breakfast.
4. Adding in 2 pieces of fruit a day, in the morning. I know the banana has a metric ton of carbs BUT what if I cut it up? and share it and only have it once in a while ? How bout a small apple? Still sticking to berries and melons but straying here and there with a apple isn't all that bad.
5. Moving out of induction and that induction mindset.. it cant be 20 net carbs for ever. and I need to accept that.. I still lose around 25-30 and that's my threshold right now. If I go over bc of fruit additions than I need to tweak it a bit.Id like to be at 40 soon and still lose weight, and Im working on that daily.
6. Not eating after 8 pm..
These are my immediate changes and goals. My mini goal is the next 5 lbs. Short term goal : get to 150 lbs. Long term goal: 30 lbs in 2016 / Im about 8 lbs into that goal. And the forever nagging goal of drink more water LOL..
OK,rant over, have a super duper day every one ..

In Texas they can't call themselves a dietitian if they're not registered with the state and if they're not an RD they can't give you meal plans.

Vega is good, enjoy. Try with Almond Milk as you have, or Almond & Cashew Milk Blend a bit more like Whole Milk consistency, while Almond Milk is more like Skim Milk. As for fruit in the morning, if you lift weights, have it with your protein shake after workout, not before. If you don't lift weights, skip it all together, you cannot afford the spike in insulin. Remember, it's not only the total of Net Carbs per day that you want to manage, it's WHEN you have your carbs. Cortisol levels are at their highest in the morning, and you are at your most sensitive to incoming carbs in the morning, i.e., any carbs in the morning produce a large insulin response than later in the day, simply because you have not eaten since the night before. Maintenace can be as simple as LCHF at less than 30-50gms net per day, with a weekly one-time spike of high carbs, which allows for a night out, etc..

If you time the fruit(sugar) around your workout you will get more benefit. It will go into replenishing glycogen. That should help you lift more. Good plan.

Hmmm...I was looking at Vega the other day but thought it had too many carbs per serving if I recall correctly - but you like the taste? That counts. I love my Vitasport brand though...

I wanted to say that a piece of fruit here and there is not a "bad" thing, but reading Mahjohn's reply has made me think twice. I didn't think about the timing of that piece of fruit. It's just that I can't imagine that an apple would ruin someone's diet. I'm afraid too many get caught up in the "rules", and become too obsessive about their choices.

Like Dorothy with her ruby slippers. You've had the power all along.

I like Majohns and Cats advice and its exactly what she told me too, have the fruit in the morn, after lifting and even add to protein shake then 2nd fruit with breakfast or as morning snack. Vega has 7 net carbs plus the almond milk which only makes it 4-5 net carbs more than the atkins shakes I was having and Im fine with that. And it tastes amazing, like a chocalaty coco cloud or something. And there is a berry flavor too

You said you drink your protein drink with almond milk. I drink chocolate slimfast everyday mixing it with water instead of milk. It tastes excellent and saves alot of calories. Just thought you might try it fatbut1948
