ceekaye's Journal, 16 December 2015

I was losing weight at a rate of about 1-2 pounds per week: And so, after a week of adding a modest 1/2 to 1 ounce of nuts and seeds to my salads and dressings and having up to 2 servings of berries and citrus- my weight loss has ceased and (i seem to have even gained back 1 pound)

My theory: I think this past week has proven to me that fruits and nuts and seeds are NOT helping me with fat loss. Even in modest amount, and despite my calorie deficit, the addition of fruits and nuts/seeds is obviously counter-productive to me at this time.

Therefore, I am cutting out the fruit and nuts entirely.

I will get back to where i was prior to the fruit nut and seed experiment.

I may keep the seeds to under 1 tbsp per day. If that doesn't do the trick then buh-bye to the seeds - I still have another 28 pounds of fat to shed!

I will end on a positive note: I've enjoyed the fact that my skin hasn't been dry; and the fruit & nuts/seeds did make me feel really good. I will consider this past week of experimenting with fruits nuts & seeds an early preview of how i should be eating once i've reached my goal weight. At the rate i have been going, i will probably hit that in the next 4 months.

Today i ate 2 pounds of raw vegetables and one pound of cooked food. I made hummus with 1 teaspoon hulled sesame seeds for texture and 1 teaspoon horseradish for some spice.

Another day closer to the end of the challenge. Let's see if i can lose those last 8 pounds by the 31st! :)

I always eat fruit, nuts and seeds. I know most diets don't allow them, but I do on my live it! Sure weight release is slow, but I find if I eat the foods I love, I don't ever feel deprived. Therefore, I don't desire unhealthy foods. So, don't give up on the fruit, nuts and seeds just yet!

Nuts are healthy and I love them but the damn things do pack a lot of calories in a small amount and they're very easy to overeat once a package is open. I basically avoid them. As for fruit, LOTS of sugar in most cases. Aside from grapefruit and a small amount of berries mixed in plain yogurt, I stay away from it.

I avoid fruit, it's really just candy. I've never had an issue with nuts, pecans, almonds, and pistachios being my favorite. I'm hoping that I can add trail mix and granola to my menu when I reach maintenance, but I'm not counting on it.

Yeah granola tastes great but if you buy it at the store it's really not much better than a bag of ground up cookies. One cup has like a zillion calories and loaded with sugar ;)

The body is a very funny mechanism and even fruits and nuts eating in moderation can give us the results were not looking for when you're trying to lose weight as a diabetic I do try eating nuts occasionally because they do help keep the blood sugar up longer and recently been running the problems where it they've been running lower the other thing you can do if you really want your nuts and fruits use to increase the activity level and that can mean walking since I'm not a jogger

I know what you're saying, Larry, I was thinking I would make it at home, if I even bother with it. I probably won't.

I hear you. All forms of Trail Mix are my weakness and a deal buster. I try not to indulge too often...

Try just eating nuts, and lose the fruit since it has way more carbs.

I don't eat fruit, too much sugar. I do have black chia seeds every day, and almonds occasionally. I'm averaging a couple of pounds a week.

I for one could not live without fruit. You might want to look into getting some young coconuts. They are delicious, low in fat and sugar and have many benefits. And the water in them is so tasty and great for your skin :)
