Good morning my friends. Back to Monday again already, could someone hit the rewind button for me please!

Saturday was a decent day. Grocery shopped, took my son to his follow up appointment, got the lawn mowed. Productive. Unfortunately my throat was sore so I wasn't having the time of my life. My mom and brother were hinting around wanting my husband and I to come over and party it up with them. I declined. Some people want to party every single night of their lives, I just want some quiet alone time with my husband and kids. My son's foot, by the way, has improved drastically. His infection started Thursday morning, when I promptly took him to the ER. The ER wanted me to follow up with the pediatrician in three days. I wasn't comfortable with that so I had him to the pediatrician the very next day. The pediatrician said that if I hadn't used my good judgement to bring him in right away he would have most definitely had to have been treated in the hospital with IV antibiotics. Mom 1, Cellulitis 0.

Sunday was even better. Husband and I took the kids to the Cleveland zoo, where I racked up 18,500 steps. Budget is tight so we packed a lunch to take with us and at lunch time ate at a picnic table under a tree out near the parking lot. Numerous temptations there, let me tell ya. For a moment I was seriously considering ben & jerrys, as we passed the stand. Everybody wanted it... please mom!!! Ugh. I stood firm with my no. Then they wanted to stop for ice cream after the zoo. Luckily my daughter's poor behavior gave me a solid reason to say no to an ice cream treat. 11 with an attitude to rival any cocky teenager. She was pissed about all of the walking. Lord help me. She wanted to leave half way through because she was tired, and her feet hurt. (she chose to wear flip flops against my advice because I just don't know what I'm talking about) We walked on. She survived, and I didn't even publicly backhand her. Didn't want to end up on the news, everyone has a video camera rolling nowadays ;) . So no ice cream, no special treats. Just what I had planned to eat and lots and lots of walking. The husband and I had a good time. It was a good day.

Now it's back to the grind. Class this week followed by clinicals this weekend. Lots to prep for. Also, I've decided I'm going to sit for the STNA exam and try to earn that certification as well. I could have sat for it last fall but at the time I didn't want to. But why the hell not. That will be in September.

Have a great day, buddies!

The Cleveland zoo is nice, spent a day there in June. Yup, back to Monday, time for a second cup of coffee. Hope you have a great week.

Kids and their poor shoe choices. I made my niece walk barefoot when her shoes were giving her blisters because she didn't want to listen and didn't wear socks. It was summer so the pavement was nice and warm, she complained anyway LOL. Have a nice week Yolanda.

Way to go Yolanda, and you know those teenagers will challenge you every chance they get just like when you were a teen.

Nice mileage for the day, plus the view of the zoo is better scenery than you'd get from a treadmill.

Sorry but I have to laugh. Your 11 yr old sounds EXACTLY like my 11 yr old so I can relate. :) Great job staying firm and 18500 steps!

I signed up for the same challenge hoping it would push me. Didn't work. Need to coordinate time and things before committing.

Great job with the steps. So awesome you took your family to the zoo. Your 11 year old sounds like my one grandson. He really gives his mom a hard time. I tell her its going to get worse before it gets better. Usually it gets better after they have kids of their own :) My daughter sometimes has to be reminded how she was growing up.

You're way ahead using your own intuition when it comes to your medical needs. There's nothing more frustrating than going to a doctor, know your issues and what's worked in the past, and having your comments ignored by a doctor who 'knows' you must be wrong. Any time I have any kind of a problem (okay, maybe not a broken bone) I research it before I go in. I'm sure doctors hate the Internet. If it's an uncommon problem, you can be sure you know more about it than the doctor when you go it. It doesn't help your relationship with your doctor, but shouldn't it be about your health and not your doctors ego?

Oh, and you'll be smarter in your daughter's eyes when she gets older. Don't hold your breath until she's in her mid 20s.

I'm looking forward to taking 1BB to the zoo. I could definitely use that many steps. Good job staying dedicated to avoiding the junk food.
