Jonathan Walsh's Journal, 28 April 2015

Well my Tenacious Tuesday sucked!!! It had nothing to do with losing weight, but it definitely sucked. All my life I have wanted a Corvette. Grew up very poor, had a friend with one, & it was imprinted on me from the first time I rode in it. Fortunately I have been blessed & finally bought my lifelong dream car a year ago. Got a great deal because the seller thought it had a bad oil pump. Took a risk, turns out to be a bad sensor & switch; so bottom line, I made the deal of a lifetime. Well on the way to the gym this afternoon, I got rear ended; TWICE, by the same guy, in a damn monster truck! Said he couldn't see me the first time & thought something was wrong with his transmission the second time. Long story, short; my dream car now looks like a nightmare. I'm afraid it will be totaled. I will never find such a deal again without breaking the law. So sick I could cry. I love that car. Well, I still went to the gym; but I only had enough time to walk one mile before kickboxing. At least I got to take out some frustration. Does crying yourself to sleep burn calories?

I'm so sorry for your car!! It makes me want to cry too... I would think it should help a little. A good heavy sob might burn something. And you'll get some endorphins after. Sorry, you had a suck day.

Appreciate it gang. Yeah I know the car can be replaced, but damn I love that car. I have treated it like a baby. Silly material possession in the big picture, but when you came from where I came from & wanted one for over 30 years, it hurts. Don't mean to be so petty. Oh well, shitaki mushrooms happen!!!

Oh that truly sucks! I am a car person (different for most women) and love my little black Miata convertible. In fact it has an auto hard top so I put snow tires on it and drive it all year long!

Mine was a vintage cheery red MGB that I babied. I couldn't get out of my funk for days after it was destroyed. Totally get it.

I understand completely. I grew up poor too and I always wanted a little red MG. Had to accept the fact that I would never drive, too blind. I hate sucky drivers! Good on you for working out anyway. If crying made you thin I'd be the skinniest girl in the world. Sorry 😢

Wow Patty W, I used to have a vintage cheery red MGB too! A gift from my Dad. It used to be his.

That sucks! Glad you still went to the gym! Won't his insurance cover the cost of restoring your car? How does the same person hit you twice... erg.

Sorry about your loss. I would think the other driver's insurance would cover the cost of replacement. Glad you went to the gym though. Keep up the great work!

When my husband wrecked his truck I was just glad that no one was hurt. Cars can be fixed and replaced, not you. We also thought his truck was going to be totaled BUT the body repair guy says MAYBE it can be fixed. So you never know. My husband was EXTREMELY upset about his truck so I can understand where you are coming from. When I told him that we would get him a new truck, he pouted (my words) and said, "BUT I WANT MY TRUCK". It's going to be ok. All you can do is wait and see. Crossing fingers.

Oh man, I am SO sorry. I own my dream car too, and I understand how you must feel. Just the thought really does make me sad. It is most important that you are not hurt but I'm so sorry for what happened....

Just so you know... insurance should and will pay you what a car is worth, not what you paid for it. I had a similar situation and I went to the guys insurance company with the want ads (yeah, it was a while ago, LOL) where I had circled the cost of comparable vehicles. I think I paid $1000 for that car and got over $2000 from the insurance. You don't have to just take what they offer you. Whether or not you got a good deal when you bought it is immaterial. You may want to consider an orange flag on a 10 foot pole for your replacement car though, HEHE!

Oh yeah, and.... Great Job going to the gym anyway!!

If your car happened to have been for sale (prior to being hit) and you accepted a down payment from the "buyer" (prior to being hit), tell your insurance company. You'll get what you had it "sold" for then maybe you'll get enough for another one. :) good luck

Yeah I know they will have to pay the value, but I got such a good deal; & with what's all on the car, there won't be one like it out there. Thanks for all the good will sent my way gang. Just been depressed all day & having issues with him not contacting his insurance company already. They suggested I file a claim on my insurance until they speak with him. Well thanks for that awesome advice insurance company, what could ever go wrong with that picture? My insurance should not ever be involved in this mess.

My son has just started getting into cars and he has developed a particular love of vettes, pointing them out excitedly whenever he spots one. He (and I) share your heartbreak. Hope those insurance companies play nicely.

Oh no. I'm just reading this. What is wrong with people? Not once, but twice? I hope you weren't hurt. Let's hope they don't total the car, but repair. Get three estimates and then see what they want to give you. It might be worth the while to take what they give you and then, if possible, keep the car and put the rest of your money in to fix it. We just had our old car totaled in December. It wasn't anything fantastic, but it was paid for. We now have a car payment. We weren't too lucky, because hubby was hurt and has had back surgery since. He's still out of work.
