I've struggled with my weight all my life. My mother served soda at dinner and we had a "snack drawer" for after school loaded with all kinds of unhealthy crap. I'm also from an Italian family--they guilt you to death if you don't eat what's on your plate. I'm recovering from an addiction to Coke, pasta, carbs, and pizza. I've finally decided it's time to forget the word DIET and change my mindset and lifestyle. Since I embarked on this new lifestyle, I have more energy, the cravings have subsided, and I'm sleeping better. Win!

UPDATE 7-16-15: Down 36 pounds and going strong! Have donated a few garbage bags full of my "fat clothes" because I will NEVER fit in them again. Enjoying my new Levis Signature Skinny jeans.

UPDATE 7-23-15: I have reached my halfway point! *happy dance*

If you can't quit sodas cold turkey, buy 12-oz frozen juices (100% juice, no sugar added - definitely no high fructose corn syrup - like, Old Orchard brand)...

Wow, some really great advice here! Thank you so much! Very Happy

I'm new here. Just wanted to say hello. I want to lose about 60 pounds so I can be healthy and set a good example for my daughter. I'm addicted to Coke (the drink--otherwise I'd be skinny Laughing ) and carbs. We're starting a new diet as a family, cutting all added sugars (it's not going to be easy) and reducing the carbs.

I've struggled with weight my entire life, but I'm tired of it. And I'm not getting any younger--this will only get harder!

It's going to be tough to stay away from the soda (unfortunately, my mom served it with dinner when I was growing up) though I really won't miss it once the cravings are gone. I will miss warm bread slathered with butter. A lot, a lot. Sad
