Sour Grapes.

So the gal in my office that was hoping for the promotion that I received hasn't been talking to me since the announcement last month. On Monday, she turned in her resignation.

I went over to talk to her and to congratulate her on her next endeavor and she hardly looked up from her smartphone to respond.

Ugh. I don't want her to leave with us on any bad terms, but at this point I don't think there is much I can do. I prefer harmony in life...but sometimes there's no way to get it. But I still wish there was some way I could bring peace to the situation.

However, I'm overwhelmed with training for my new position, training in the new person for my old position, and now trying to prepare for her departure and helping to train THAT new person. The lady that I'm replacing will be going out on leave in a week and that puts me "in charge" until her ultimate retirement. Not to mention that husband is out of town this week and I'm "single mom" for the kiddos.

If it weren't for those lunch hour workouts and an evening glass of wine, I don't think I'd keep my sanity. I have faith that I'm right where I need to be and that I have everything I need to get through this.

Home, food, family, exercise...all those are good right now. My son has enjoyed cooking for my daughter and me this week with dad being gone. So far he's made a well seasoned version of buttered noodles, and a spinach/raspberry/vinegar/olive oil salad [on crackers]??? but I applaud his efforts...he's only 7 afterall.

You are doing an awesome job juggling everything. There will always be haters. That is their problem. Your son is awesome trying to help his family out!

Thanks for your support gang. Today isn't much better in how I'm being treated at work...I'm amazed at how openly rude people can be. However, I'm smiling because I have great kids who were super helpful again today, and I've got plenty of work to fill up my day. It's going to be a FAST day!

Sounds like your coworker is mad at the situation, don't take it personally. Some are just sore losers, well into adulthood. You were the bigger person, props to you for trying to smooth things over. Just reading about your workload makes me head spin, you're doing an amazing job! We can only do what we can do though, so don't kill yourself over it. This week will pass :) Have a great day!!

There is nothing you can do about the coworker other than give her your best. It's not really your issue it's hers, and when she starts something new, she'll move on and be happy, so don't worry about her too much, she's made her decision. It sounds like your son is helping you out, and that's great! I love that he's trying to cook for you guys. :) In a few months you won't be so overwhelmed, and you can look back on this time and see how far you've come.

You have so much on your todo list that no more energy should be spent on your scorned coworker. You were the bigger person. This situation just played out in my office three months ago between two other coworkers. The one who didn't win the position held it personally against the one who did for months until he realized that he was deflecting instead of reflecting.

You guys really are the best...thank you. I've told myself the same things, but it feels good to other contribute the same support. It's true that right now I have so much on my plate that I just don't have time to worry about it. You all have NO IDEA how much I love going home to the chaos of my family...they really are an amazing, supportive pack.
