Oooooh that's a pickle...my first reaction was long chain but if she climbs she could end up hanging herself...happened to my friend's dog, it was awful...lattice on top of fence?

moat? chain just short of the fence?

In order: village would throw a hissy fit, ground is frozen to 2 feet, moat would freeze over and I hate to chain a dog. Hate, mind you. I'm thinking maybe she's going to have to be a 35 (yep, that's what she is now) to 70 pound inside dog until spring hits and I can be outside doing my think and keeping her with me at all times. Went with the overhanging chicken-wire at the fence ala Alcatraz for the time-being.

Ok I have an image of angry villagers with pitchforks outside your house. Ooo I KNOW! What if you got her a set of those silly dog boots that dogs can never seem to walk in? I bet she couldn't climb wearing those. That and an ugly sweater and she'd never leave the yard. But daaaad all my friends might see me and then I would DIE of embarrassment!

Now, THAT is a good idea. Both of them. haha No pitch forks. Hockey sticks up here.

Thanks! I hope it works. I wouldn't want anything to happen to her. Dang Canadians got me hooked on curling a few Olympics ago(if I recall your team was really good). Of course we don't have it here so I only get my fix every 4 years.

I should have done that with my daughter. Of course we're good curlers. We spend half our lives on ice.

Well she can't be beautiful and a genius :)

Love the booties and sweater idea. She'll probably love the warmth it offer her poofy chest and freezing pads!

Is the fence chain-link? It may help to use those plastic tabs that you weave through the links. Might keep her from getting a grip to climb? (clever Tika)

She's still a puppy, she might grow out of it, of course that doesn't help you now. Maybe putting in an electric fence, similar to what they use to contain cattle, at about the height she start to climb at. The mild electric shock should discourage her.

I have one that jumps over the fence and one (see profile picture) who was able to create fence openings. So we had to weave an invisible fence into the existing fence so they get a small zap if they get too close to the fence. I hated to do that but they weren't safe running around the streets.

Lots of people won't like this. Lived in the country, horses and goats. An electric fence wire. She would learn quick and it would be safer for her not to be loose. At farm supply stores you can get varied strength ones depending on the animal. Fatoldlay said the same thing.

What about coyote rollers on the fence? I know a lot of people who use them not just to keep coyotes out but to keep their dogs from jumping the fence.
