Annabelle3117's Journal, 08 January 2015

Good morning everyone! They cancelled all the schools around here due to the frigid temperatures, so I got to sleep a couple extra hours. Woo hoo! Desperately needed, as I started to come down with a sore throat yesterday. I need to speed recover from this, as I start clinicals in just two days! I don't know if they will cancel my evening classes tonight or not, but boy it would be nice if they did. Lots to do today!

Yesterday I started my day out by going to the gym. Yes, you heard me correctly! I put on my workout clothes before I took my son to school and went to the gym straight after. It was like 9 degrees then, and I forged ahead and did it anyway. That's even more epic than throwing out the candy bar lol. I did forty minutes on the elliptical. Spent the remainder of the afternoon with an old friend. It was a very nice time. I stayed well within my RDI and was very active. Then math class last night. It was a busy day, but unfortunately a day spent outside of the house has left a lot piled up to get done inside the house today! Laundry, laundry, laundry. I also have homework, and the kids do too, so I guess we will all tackle our homework together to get it done. I have quite a load with two different courses to study and homework for clinicals. (I think I can, I think I can)

Exceptionally proud of myself for sticking with the program this past week. It wasn't an easy adjustment but it's gotten a lot easier. It was empowering at the gym yesterday, glad to know I've still got it. I volunteered to work some extra hours tomorrow, never hurts the paycheck. But I volunteered strictly for afternoon hours so that I can spend my morning at the gym, working on my fitness. If I'm still feeling crappy with the sore throat and congestion I'll tone down the intensity by doing some walking on the treadmill and some strength training in the weight room. If school Is again cancelled all together, then I'll have to figure out something else.

I'm in awe of the response I got from my pervious journal regarding the tossed out snickers! I was hoping for maybe a chuckle, but the crowd really did go wild lol. A giant thank you to every one who showed me some support. My friend is not a bad friend, she's actually wonderful. I can't expect her to understand what I'm dealing with, and as I demonstrated, I'm an adult that is fully capable of making her own decisions. What I put in my body is solely my decision, regardless of what people throw at me. And people are going to throw things at me lol. People love to feed, and gift food, it's human nature. Hell, it's animal nature... I've been given dead mice by my cats that I kindly refused. We show love that way. She wasn't trying to sabotage me, or be a bad friend. Often when people hand us food and we refuse they reply with "well it isn't going to hurt you". They're right... usually it wont. My reply is always, "Yeah, but it's not going to help me either". I'm not saying I'll never grab a snickers lol, but right now it's not going to help me achieve my goal so I will pass. I hope that makes sense.

I was contemplating weighing in the morning, but I was distracted by the kids romping around the house. Maybe tomorrow, maybe not :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

"I've been given dead mice by my cats that I kindly refused" - LOL! This is brilliant. It helps me to remember that just because someone gifts it to you, bought it for you, or made it for you, doesn't mean you have to eat it. You're doing awesome <3

I'm amazed you're getting to the gym when it's like that. I LOVE the idea of sitting down with the kids and doing all your homework together :) You really are an inspiration :)

Yep - the first week.. even month.. takes adj for those around me because it's hard to explain 'no, I don't want that' after being seen sitting around with a full bag of fritos in my hand.... it takes time for them as much as me.
