Time for a new Bio again!

Last year could by no means be considered a success when you compare my results with my (now deleted) targets. 2017 just wasn't my year, I guess!

Anyway, 2018 is already looking like a good 'un. Sold our house, bought another, looking for a 2nd place abroad, getting married, got a new car, getting over the virus that struck me low at the end of last year and a referral to the hospital for checks on my iron levels as "something not quite right here" is happening (says my Doc).

So ... Targets.

1 - 76kg by the time I get married. Only just over 2 weeks to go now so that's one to watch for!

2 - I've set myself at 69.5kg but I'm not going to put a date on it. I failed completely at dated targets last year so I'm just going to take it as it comes (or goes, hopefully!). Once I get there, I'll see if I need to go further.

3 - Look to my non-scale victories (NSVs). I don't really care what I weigh, I just want to be healthy and not overflow bras and jeans. Once I stop with the sizes I have now, I'll drop a size and aim for the same again.

4 - Another NSV. Be able to wear heels again. I have dodgy knees and a tendency to gout flare-ups. Losing weight should help with those and should get me back into heels again (not 4" stilettos but 2" blocky heels would be a nice change from pumps and trainers)

Anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask. I'm a friendly, chatty person with some good ideas and not much willpower - especially where wine is concerned. I'm based in Southern England although I've lived most of my life in my birth-county of Yorkshire and in Scotland.

Fitmess
I was in the same boat but discovered that in the FS app for Android in settings you can link to FitBit. From the home page, go to settings and under exercise tracking select apps & devices and Fitbit is an option. I’ve no idea if it’s the same for iOS, though.

Fit Bit
I’ve been using the Fitmess app to sync my FitBit with FS but when I went to it today to force a sync, it says it’s being retired as FS now has that function. Does anyone know where to find this new function as I can’t find it in the app or on the desktop version (US or UK)?

Carb calculations - Avocados
This site has good explanations. Avocados are low net carbs, high fibre and high fat so great to keep your net carbs down if you like them. Essentially, the 3g figure rather than the 17g.

I'm not convinced manufacturers are consistent across the board for processed foods when they state total carbs. Some appear to include fibre (as this site does) and some don't include fibre in their total carbs value. That's one reason why I tend to stick to cooking from scratch with very, very few pre-prepared ingredients. I suppose we're at risk of double-subtracting the fibre from total carbs on this site and therefore understating our net (or digestible) carbs.

I'm relatively new to low-carb but there are some real experts on the FS site who are likely to chip in if they see this.

low carb lunch ideas - make ahead to take to work
I don't know where you are or if you eat pork but loin steaks are on offer a lot in the UK and are great with a jerk seasoning mix (I use this one but omit the sugar to keep it low carb). They also keep up to a week in the fridge. The seasoning is great with chicken drumsticks too. I quite like a home made guacamole with a tin of tuna mixed into it to have with salad or Livlife Low Carb bread but you have to remind yourself it tastes better than it looks Bad Grin
