Annabelle3117's Journal, 09 January 2015

Well that's more like it! My first weigh in of the year (Jan 1) was after a night of eating deliciously fried foods and a bottle of wine, and after a week of binging on cookies, and after a few months of eating carelessly... so I expected a lot of extra water and glycogen pounds to be lost pretty quickly. I am surprised though, a very solid loss.

Willpower seems to be the theme of this week. In the first few days It was will alone that kept me from binging during days of terrible anxiety. Then there was the snickers. After that a friend and I went to lunch at red lobster, lots of restraint there, and last night I came home to find domino's pizza and breadsticks waiting for me. I put it all in the fridge as soon as I got here and made myself a chicken sandwich instead. The anxiety is starting to build up for clinicals tomorrow, and there was a little voice in my head telling me to go for the pizza, screw it. I reminded myself that food doesn't solve problems, nor does it make anxiety go away. Went to bed without nary a slice. Whew! Decided to weigh in today to see if the reward has been worth the effort. Yeah, I'd say so.

No gym today, kids are home from school again due to poor road conditions. Snow last night got me out of class one hour early, so that wasn't too shabby. I'm working this afternoon, and I still have a lot of assignments to get done before clinicals tomorrow. Eek! After this weekend things are going to calm down, it was just like jumping in with both feet after Christmas break to all of these assignments at once. I need to remember that when I'm talking myself down from the 'crazy overwhelmed' ledge :).

If nothing else, running around the hospital for eight hours a day Saturday and Sunday will be great exercise. I have to park on the fifth floor of the parking garage, and I will be taking the stairs up and down. I'm also packing my lunch. The cafeteria is available, but its more cost effective... and calorie effective, to plan ahead of time and pack.

Speaking of planning ahead, I need to go to the store before class today to get a folder for clinicals, I should grab something for dinner tomorrow night too. Plan, plan, plan.

Alright, I'll be spending my day working my ass off to get these assignments done and keep anxiety at bay :) Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

sounds like you have some kids in your household, otherwise I would have suggested you just take that pizza, and dump it in the garbage. I have finally come the the conclusion (for myself) that even though I hate wasting food, I'm worth it. Better in the garbage than on me. LOL Having grown and out of the house kids still in the work force, I pawn off my sweets on them to take to work.
