I think you've come a long way Jim. Every day back at it. It'll come off.

I'd suggest trying the "King-Prince-Pauper". Eat breakfast like a King (big breakfast), lunch like a Prince (moderate) and dinner like a Pauper (lite dinner). Think of food a fuel, you don't want to be calorie heavy as you are winding down your day...just a suggestion.

Madjak, I'm finding good success in 16:8 fasting not just for the weight loss but also other health benefits. So on most days I try and get my calories in between 12 noon and 8pm, usually end up my last food by 7:30 or so. Not that there's anything wrong with your suggestion and I do appreciate suggestions and tips as I've learned a lot from them...I just have reason in this case to go about it differently. Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

Rockiesfan I have slacked up in the sweat department recently, I promise I'll do a good 45 minutes on the bike this evening.

jmb, I'm curious if you have ever checked your blood sugar after your fast and before you eat your first meal. I tried fasting by my blood sugar would continue to rise until I ate something. I was wondering if you see the same thing.

Brent I've never checked it other than when I get bloodwork done for the doctor. Those are done fasting but relatively early, 7 to 9 am. I guess I could get a kit or something to test it, not sure how that's done....I do feel fine when fasting, no noticeable symptoms of anything. One of the benefits I hope to get from it is activation of the SIRT-1 gene which you can also achieve with the alternate day diet...I just find 16:8 easier to do. It's also supposed to help reduce inflammation in the body which is very important to me since I have coronary artery disease.

No need to check it if you dont have the stuff handy. I appreciate the offer. I was just curious. I know there are a lot of benefits to fasting, I unfortunatly, cannot control my blood sugar without food so I can't do the fast. Your doing great with the fast! It's an awesome tool!

Brent, I fasted yesterday until around 6:30 PM, had dinner and that was it for the day. My sugar reading this morning was 93 (11 lower from previous morning). Last week I did the same thing for 2 days and didn't see any rise in sugar (actually lower each day). I'm fasting again today and eating only one meal, I will test my sugar right before I eat and let you know how I did.
