jmb3450's Journal, 16 October 2014

Just a slight change in weight this morning, just below 220 lbs. I suppose that means I've flushed out the excess water I had and it's now back to a slower process of burning the body fat. Calorie target for today is 1700 calories, fasting until sometime after 12 noon.

I heard an ad on the radio this morning about a process called "cold sculpting" where they freeze fat in unwanted body bulges and places for targeted reduction, never heard of that before so I guess it's something new. Interesting. Have a great Thursday, getting close to the end of the week.

Cold sculpting? I'd just have to climb into a deep freezer. Wait, no, I think my eye lids are okay. Not the brows tho... just kidding - will look into this :-) Sounds interesting.

On track Jim! But that cold sculpting? Wild. Sounds just as frightening as all the other shortcuts. No shortcuts right? Have a great day.

I got the name wrong, it's called "cool sculpting."

Keep up the good work...slow & steady wins the race...or something like that...I'm trying to get back into the swing of this "eating right" thing. I did really well two years ago and figured "I got this figured out", then proptly fell off the wagon and gained 40lbs back...damn! But, you only fail if you quit trying...so here we go. But as Yoda would say "there is no try, do or do not...no try" Later buddy!

Are you referring to cold thermogenesis? I know a few people who do it regularly and they swear it really works. I've contemplated trying it, but it seems like it involves a lot of time sitting around shivering, and quite frankly, I'm not so sure I want to do that just to drop a few more pounds.

I just read an article about the cool sculpting today and it said it only take a centimeter of fat off, and like myself I have some skin hanging and it does nothing for that.

Oh, cool sculpting is different than cold thermogenesis. Cold thermogenesis is a way to raise your metabolism and burn fat using cold vests. It's not a cosmetic procedure.

Sweeet2th - From my very limited investigation the treatment is called Cryolipolysis - cooling/freezing fat cells and causing them to die, the body processes the dead cells out, non-invasive and no damage to nerves/skin/other tissues. According to Wikipedia anyway. FDA approved in 2010. I have no idea if it works or not. Thanks everyone for your support/comments, much appreciated.
