Annabelle3117's Journal, 26 March 2014

Good morning buddies! It's been a crazy week here on spring break, sorry I missed you yesterday. Both of my kids have strep throat, and I'll be taking my sister to the doctor for it as well today. I know last time I spoke of this I told you that we are uninsured so I was pretty much tossing a coin on a trip to the doctor but yesterday I just had to go with my mom instincts. My poor son was a couple days into a fever and my daughter had just started. So I took my son to the doctor and they were kind enough to write a prescription for my daughter as well. The icing on the cake was the twelve hour work shift I pulled yesterday on top of all that. We always get crazy on spring break! I'm completely ignoring the irritation at the back of my throat... It's all in my head...

Soooo, I didn't get to the gym on Monday, but I decided I was going to be active regardless. We have an Xbox kinnect, and I busted it out and played some games with the kids. In between my turns I did some kettle bell swings, lifts etc. We had a sit up and a plank contest. Just tried to get a workout in with the kids. It worked, I'm still sore and that's after doing nothing yesterday lol. I was hoping to get to the gym tonight or today, but we will see. I do have work and sick kids to tend to.

I updated my weight mid-week because today my biggest loser challenge ends today. I've lost nineteen pounds this year (twelve weeks) and I'm pretty damn proud of that. I've still got two weigh ins until my birthday, but I don't really have a weight goal to go along with that. Just going to keep on chugging :-)

In other news, my 'cut the artificial sweetener' self challenge has gone very well. I still drink diet soda on the weekends but during the week I'm only drinking coffee and plain ol water. When I initially began this journey crystal light was how I cut the calories out of my drinks, but I've cut that out now. I hear that stuff is no good for you, so hopefully I'm healthier for it. I'm not the sugar-aholic I once was.

I hope everyone is healthy, happy and optimistically working towards their goals. Have a great day!

Yes, ignore the throat irritation.. it'll just go away ... you health pro's... you're like the cobblers wife to yourselves. Congrats on the 19lbs and no arti sugar; I've done neither. I've resumed adding CL to my water so I could up the intake. I know it's got 'something' that isn't that good for me ... every thing does if taken in excess ... right?

You stop that, it will go away! lol The way I looked at CL was even if it was a little bad for me, it was better than all the sugar I was guzzling prior. At least it wouldn't give me diabetes lol. Thank you both :-)

I think considering all the obstacles placed before you, you managed to get past them all and really I think it is great that you got the kids involved in moving right along with you. Sorry to hear about the strep throat and that your little ones are not feeling good. I will admit that I don't have any plans at this time to get rid of my artificial sweetener but I never drink any soda or crystal light. I drink only coffee with sweetener and water. Best wishes for you and all your family. Have another great day!

Yolanda - you amaze me. You are SUCH an inspiration to me. I hope the kids get better quickly and that you don't get it. Strep is so painful! Anyway, keep up the good work, I'm proud of you!

Just watch out...if your throat is sore you could be passing it on to your clients. The docs office would normally just call in a script for all those in the immediate family based on the positive strep on your son. It is better than keeping it going round and round. You are doing great...keep it up

Thank you everyone! I wish it were that easy K, but my kids see a pediatrician and I would have to see my doctor for some antibiotics. They wont just call something in for me. No money for the doctor right now, spent my last dimes on the kids. I will be alright, no worries.
