Hi, I am 55, living in Canada, married 5 years and have 2 adult stepsons. The stepsons live in another province so we don't get to see them as often as we would like. They've grown up way too fast!
I am trying to get healthy and strong and stay that way.
When I was younger, I was always the skinny one, my nickname was skinny minny. I remember reading all the ads on the back of magazines for supplements to gain weight. If I only knew then what would be in my future...
In 2004 I was 254 lbs. I thought if I didn't lose weight I was going to die an early death. I couldn't even walk up the stairs without feeling exhausted.
With exercising and proper diet I reached 155 lbs. by the summer of 2005. I was able to keep it off for about 5 years with regular exercise, but then moved to another city and another job and just didn't keep it up. My husband and I started to make our own wine and perhaps I started to indulge too often as well. The truth of the matter is too much food in and not enough exercise.
I started concentrating on exercising and losing weight again in November 2012 at 200 pounds. What a disappointment it was to have to start over - atleast I was not back at 254. November 2013 I reached 180. January 2014 I reached 170. My goal is to get to 140 by the summer of 2014 and hold steady.
In the summer gardening is my drug of choice and in the winter it is exercising indoors and baking. I just have to figure out a way not to eat my baking! I do love that smell of fresh baking in the house though!
I am grateful for FS and all the journals everyone writes. Some of you are very talented writers and I appreciate being able to get to know you and identify with your struggles and triumphs. Thank you.
