BuffyBear's Journal, 15 March 2014

Time to climb up out of the dark hole. This week has been stressful (on many levels) and I did not handle it well. I just dropped out of one of my challenges since it was adding to my stress level (and guilt).

My "plan" is actually a comforting routine, not difficult to follow. If sometime in the future I hit a plateau, I'll deal with it then. Right now I just need to get back into sync.

Tomorrow morning's weight in will proceed as scheduled, even though the results won't be pretty.

So having gotten that out of my system, I intend to have a fabulous weekend! Wishing the same for all of you.

ClassicRocker - Thanks. I know we all have our ups and downs but this one was self inflected. But now there is no where to go but up!

Unfortunately stress can sabotage the of best plans, happens to everyone I believe. It certainly does me as it leaves me totally mentally exhausted. You stayed steady so a good thing. Go back to what was working for you, enjoy the weekend. If the weather there is nice get outside and enjoy spring.

Stress is a major pain in the butt. It can sabotage the best laid plans!! I try to do what I can to try to be calm at all times. Not the easiest thing to do, when you have a hubby you would like to strangle at times!! My self calming routines have been put to the major test this week too, with the two littles that I babysit. Stress induced weight gain is only temporary. Once you come back to sanity, it goes away!! lol! At least you maintained for the week. Thats great!! Just go back to doing what works for you. Sometimes we have to experiment with things to see if we can find a way that works a little better. No more beating your self up either!! Just remember, if no one else is, everyone here at FS is here for you and we understand!! Big hugs to you too!!

That is why this site is so important. There are plenty of us on here who don't go too overboard and who try to remember life's priorities. We will ALWAYS be here for each other and only do as much "gentle" teasing as a person seems to want. Stress is a b&*ch as we all know. You know yourself well and will do what you need to bounce back from a crappy week. Our thoughts are with you.

It's easy to feel alone on a diet. I handled most of my weight loss while nobody around me was trying to lose. It was tough, but my wife was supporting my efforts. That made it easier. Buffy. I love your avatar. Is that a fruit bearing tree? Will you get fruit off it this year? We have a 7 variety apple tree (grafts), that I'm hoping will do better this year, and a cherry tree that we get a couple of gallons off each year. Also have a big raspberry patch that produces more berries than we can use. Remember. As spring arrives it will be easier to be outside doing things.

Wholefood - I really appreciate that. Stress is my enemy and I have to learn that sometimes it is best to just lean back and roll with the punches.

Northernmusician - Great eye. That is a peach tree. I've wanted one ever since we moved to North Carolina. We also have plum and apple trees, but between the bugs, birds, deer and other wildlife, we are lucky to get a bite of any of it. BTW - The thought of your produce is making me drool (literally). Wishing you a bounty harvest this year!

Thanks. You too. My sister has a row of concord grapes. It was so full and heavy one year she gave me a call to come and help her pick. I went to bed knowing all those grapes were waiting for me. I love them. If they're not my favourite fruit, I'm not sure what would be. Maybe Bing cherries. Anyway. I got up the next morning and went over and a bunch of raccoons had eaten every last grape! TIME FOR A NEW HAT!!!

BuffyBear: You know what helps me during really stressfull times? If you go to free hypnosis sites, that they have on Youtube, you can look through what they have that interests you. Just plug in your headphones and lay back and relax or take a nap if you would like. It does honestly help me. Check it out and see what you think.

One of the things I have said here before and I'll say it again, that since I started this weight loss, beyond the everyday kind of stress that waxes and wanes, I have not had a "Biggie" situation hit. A few close calls but nothing that has just slapped me upside the head and threatened to derail me completely. I know there's one coming - heck, I'm a middle aged woman who is a wife, mother, daughter, friend, employee, and heart patient. I am an emotional eater and food was always my first comfort - couldn't shove it fast enough. So, there will be that temptation when something does come around, and I HOPE I handle it without eating it all up. Tomorrow will bring a new beginning and a better day for you :)

Christina - I'd be too afraid they'd make me cluck like a chicken :)

Erwinwarrior83 - I'm embarrassed to say that it wasn't even the "Biggie". It was an accumulation of little things (mainly work related) that I was trying to get through on too little sleep, while at the same time changing my diet and routine. I am not the kind of person who can handle stress by adding more stress. So today I've gone to my Happy Place. I like it here :)

I hear you about the little things just piling up - and combining it with a lack of sleep is a recipe for disaster! Glad you're in your Happy Place now! :)

Ugh, Buffy. I'm sorry to hear it has been *that kind of week* for you. :( But I've seen you get through some tough ones before, and I know you're going to do it again. I have no doubt in my mind that by this time next week, you'll be down a good chunk again! You always come through, and this time is no different. You've got this! :D
