ShyGuy's Journal, 22 February 2014

Update. This week didn't go as well as I thought it would, but it progressively got better. I couldn't resist a couple of Girl Scout, shortbread, cookies offered to me by one of my classmates at school this week, but that was early in the week. Since then I've been documenting my food, on schedule, and have only had to make adjustments in the portion size of the meats I've been eating, so as not to go over, drastically, in my RDI. I think I've gotten the hang of it again. :-) Still taking it one day at a time, and getting better everyday. :-)

One meal at a time and one day at a time .... it's the way to go! You will get it back. :)

Oh those evil Girl Scouts - LOL. When I get off track I sometimes have to go back to a super low carb, but high calorie day just to get things back into balance. After the cravings are eliminated, I can get back into portion control and healthier choices. It's a process!

Those Girl Scout cookies are hard to resist. With me it's the thin mints. I can eat a whole box in one sitting. My saving grace is they are also my husband's favorite and he usually gets to them before me. I am hoping my daughter doesn't want to be a girl scout because otherwise I am doomed!

My hubby went wild buying those cookies as every year. They are in the garage stored for now. We'll bring them out when people come over for coffee. God help me to stay away from them once they are opened and on the table ;D

Ladies, if you think the Girl Scout Cookies are hard to resist, consider this: It's Paczki time again. A week ago, Saturday, I saw them in the supermarket, and just to get it out of my system, bought a few. With that done, I'm hoping I can resist the desire to buy any more this year. I'll just stay completely away from any bakeries, supermarket or not. Last year it became a big problem for me; and it's a mistake I have no desire to repeat again.

Oh baby, do I ever know the temptation of Girl Scout cookies! Thankfully, no one approached me to buy any this year. If I liked the other flavors, I'd be in trouble, but thankfully Thin Mints are my only failing. I put both cellophane wrapped packages in the freezer and I can make one box of Thin Mints last for 6 months! Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.

Thankfully I didn't buy any this year. Stay strong Shyguy. :-) Oh I am also glad I left Detroit...... This time of year killed me there.

I had to go Google Paczki - they are made of white flour, fried (think trans fats from overheated/overused mystery grease) and lots of sugar in the filling. ShyGuy - think of your heart man! No human body is strong enough to tolerate that stuff!

Hahaha, BuffyBear! I thought about googling "Paczki" as well. I had guessed that they were similar to two other State Fair-type fried confections - the Elephant Ear and Funnel Cakes. Thankfully, although I love sweets, those always make me sick. I wait until one of my kids wants one and then I take a tiny piece. That's enough for me. Usually, I get a caramel apple :-)

I used to eat entire sleeves of GS Thin Mints at one sitting. I'm staying away completely this year.

Freezing thin mints would never work for me. I love them frozen too. LOL

Funnel cakes taste awesome for a bite or two, that's all I can handle. I'll raid a bite from a friend. Not at all good for anyone. They are a feature at a local annual festival. Never had paczki.

You're doing great and once in a while a little indulgence is not going to stop the world from turning so don't be so hard on yourself. Tomorrow will be a brand new day to start fresh and there will success in your future.
