SALT: The enemy

The obvious way to defeat it is to not ingest it. I have tried being satisfied with a salt scrub to exfoliate, but alas that is not enough. Dilution works but it takes so long to see results. Why is salt great in the ocean but not in our bodies? Okay we aren't as vast as an ocean but sometimes I feel like I am retaining as much as the Pacific, not the Atlantic as it is more turbulent. Sneaking it in is cheating myself and I catch on at some point anyway. I guess the only way to deal with it is to make peace with it, use it sparingly and blame it liberally for any and all weight fluctuations I may have.

That was deep enough for me on this gray, gloomy Thursday. Tomorrow: SUGAR

Yes, and yet our body does require some salt to work right. It is a difficult thing. But alas, it always gives us an excuse when we are up a couple pounds!! I look forward to your lament to sugar...

The key words are "use it sparingly and blame it liberally for any and all weight fluctuations I may have." :D

I too am a victim of the love/hate salt relationship...Oh darling salt, how I love thee, but you so hate me. Good luck fighting that battle and if you're able to find a salt substitute you can tolerate (and "other spices" as a substitute don't count, I want something salty!) let me know.

Try to find other seasonings that make food taste yummy. Also you might try celtic sea salt. It is more balanced to the minerals in the blood stream and it tastes better. celticseasalt.com I have been using it for years.

i use to be a salt aholic...but i no longer salt anything..and i no longer miss that part of it..now when something is salted, that i get at an eating place i cant stand all the salt...yucky...its all about what you get use to eating...and what you no longer allow in your daily food intake...

I have a hard time cutting back on salt too! Im glad salt was not a problem with my blood pressure back when I was on med's for it. The first thing I did was give up salt but it had absolutely no effect on my blood pressure. My doc said that for "some" people, salt is not the problem. After losing weight on South Beach and sticking to the plan my BP is fine now, no meds at all. Eating healthy veggies and meals is bound to help. Salt does however cause my body to retain fluid and show weight gains! I can show a gain of up to 4 lbs in one day just from salt intake!
