FullaBella's Journal, 23 April 2013

Oh good grief. I had a journal simmering out in notepad that I'd been stirring and taste testing throughout the day of errands, customers and general ADHD distractions and then the phone rang and someone wanted to give me something specific really fast so I wiped out my wonderful 'brilliant solving all the mysteries and questions in life' journal draft.

Oh well, we'll get 'em next time.

If I hadn't done it on my own, the shock of seeing little Alex P. Keaton is on the cover of the AARP magazine would have certainly finished me off and required grounding myself before touching anything electronic. Holy smoke .. he can't be that old because we're about the same age so ... yowza!

Realized today I'll need to draw the line between ever eating 'normal' and refusing to yeild from 'clean & healthy'. My husband wanted to try the new KFC boneless chicken for lunch and asked 'are you going to have some?" In my 'I believe I will just to say I'm eating normal' (although I had tuna for breakfast) I had some. I only had half a piece and one biscuit but right now I feel like the Alien could pop out of my abdomen any second. Ick. Sorry Colonel but this little chicky is dead ... wait...LOL.

The only thing I can recall from the 'lost journal' was a thought about reflections and perceptions. Something about smoke & mirrors and how we 'think' we look compared to how others view us. I probably had some amusing metaphor for 'fun houses' and angles. I'm sure it was brilliant.

But for now, we'll never know. You're all pretty smart folks; I'll let you write it in your comments for me :-)

Have a good 'un...

Bella

I hate when a journal draft gets lost in cyberspace! Michael J. Fox on AARP? I think that's pushing the notion of seniors and "retired people", although I'm sure he can afford to retire. I just googled him and found out he will be 52 years old in June - slightly older than me but still a young'n. I know what you mean about feeling like the alien could pop out of your belly. But I don't recall feeling that bad when I used to eat fast food and junk all the time. Maybe it was a perpetual state of "ick" and we only realized the difference once we started eating healthy. Too bad there isn't a lost and found for the internet where we can all go and look for our lost files - although, I don't know that I'd want someone poking through my "things"! LOL.

I hate when I've been brilliant and then it gets lost. It always amazes me why I can't remember what I said, if it was that bloody brilliant. I am sure it's still in your head somewhere and will regurgitate later. LOL on the alien in your belly. You are not used to 'crap' anymore. That's for sure. This too shall pass. Eventually :).

Hey Bella! You are so close to your goal it's amazing. Yes, I sometimes wonder about how people perceive me and how I perceive myself. In my bathroom mirror, I look gorgeous. In any other mirror, relective surface, sometimes terrible, sometimes ok, nothing spectacular. And in most pictures, even 50 pounds thinner, looks really bothersome to me. And I realize that other people see me differently than I see myself. I never believe people who say I am beautiful - I always feel like they are just trying to be nice. Also, it's other women who mostly say I'm beautiful - I don't have lines of men around the block that say I'm beautiful. Oh, sometimes it is all too much. So I'm sure that what I REALLY look like is like a sliding bar, somewhere in between gorgeous and terrible. It's less and less important the older I get.

You reminded me of when I produced the TV/Radio commercials for the FL lottery for the first 3 years - eons ago. The Director of the Lottery at the time said that none of our commercials could have any kind of "smoke and mirrors" so that the players would never think that there was any way possible that the government (lottery) could be cheating them some way. Hmmmmm - not cheating - just ripping off. Our commercials could only show "normal" people of "normal" weight and normal "mentality". No crazies or fatties. Not sure that has anything to do with your lost journal but perception is everything isn't it. KFC - who???

Bella - there's a wonderful documentary out (possibly even two or three) that speaks to what you are saying...and the other comments here, too. The one I'm thinking of is "Super Size Me". A young man, in very good health decides to eat a fast-food only diet for a series of weeks. He found that at first it was unpalatable but that eventually what he hated eating, became exactly what he craved - and he craved more & more of it. There is a theory that there is something in fast food that stimulates rather than satiates the appetite. I'd say it's best if we try not to be "normal" eaters, we are probably going to be healthier than our thinner neighbors who indulge in Micky-Ds all the time... but that's just my theory. And as to your astounding brilliance - it's not lost, just taking a break, I'm sure. You give so much, it's sure to come back to you.

Thanks everyone. The KFC thing, you know, it was never one of my favorites even back in the day - I'd always feel a little queasy from it afterward but not on the level I did yesterday; if I did (in the past) I just 'settled' my stomach with ice cream, LOL. So the Schwan man happened by yesterday and I picked up some no sugar added vanilla - not bad and it did satisfy the craving for ice cream I'd been having for nearly a month but the KFC thing seemed to kick off a craving for carbs and chocolate that I rarely feel anymore and fought the rest of the day. So I do believe there is an additive in the food that is addicting; whether truly physiological or mental there was something going on. When I commented 'eating normal' I know in the realm of healthy eating 'normal' is NOT fast food but as so many of you know eating 'clean' like we are trying to do is considered 'weird' ... like ... our food versus their food. Nonetheless, I'll not soon venture into NormalVille again anytime soon; I didn't like feeling that way. I'll just continue dining at Weirdo-World. On the upside, after my husband read the Michael J. Fox article ::: and said, 'hmmm... aren't y'all about the same age? :::: he saw another article about healthy eating, foods that help stave off disease, etc., (blueberries, salmon, etc) and commented 'this is all the stuff you eat, isn't it... hmmmm' so maybe soon I'll be chanting 'one of us.. one of us...' about him ;-)

Morgan Spurlock! That's the name of the man that did "Super Size Me". I've been sitting here trying to come up with the name for an hour now! It was a really good documentary, kind of nausea inducing when he would go to the doctor every week and his blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. had increased exponentially.

Just for the record Bella-"Normal" isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Well, dang... I've already given up on being perfect... now abandoning normal... I guess it's a good thing my friend calls me a weirdo-magnet, at least I'll always have friends LOL :-)

Oh I'm one as well-weirdos, children and animals. I'm always in good company though, I'll give it that.

Yeah, I think normal comes with a dress code - who wants that?
24 Apr 13 by member: FullaBella
You just popped my bubble...all this time I thought I was the "normal" one and the rest of the world was not. KFC is always a fight with MH and me, he loves it, I think you might as well drink dirty oil. Your journal has me thinking about the show I watched last night "extreme couponing" and why it is good for a mother with young children to stock pile soda and candy? They bragged about how she had gotten 24 gallons of soda and 100 bags of candy! My PE teaching daughter made her students watch the "Super Size Me" documentary during class.

That Extreme coupon thing is wild - some donate to charity and some live thru hardtimes but the one that baffled me was the guy with enough deodorant for 30 lifetimes or something... the Supersize is on Amazon for $3 - hmmm
