Good days/bad days -- we all have them & Alzheimer's patients are no different, as I'm learning. Yesterday, Mom was more confused, anxious & forgetful, but my writing things down for her seems to help. I needed a break by late afternoon, so I did something I've never done before -- I told her a little white lie (this is my confession!) that I was meeting a friend & went by myself to the movies. I felt good about taking that time for myself, avoided the movie concessions but ate more of my healthy snacks than I really needed or was truly hungry for. I've been feeling great & good about eating mindfully while I've been away even with eating every meal out, but not so much yesterday.

But, today's another day & I'm ready to tackle it staying my course sugar, dairy & wheat free (thankfully i didnt deviate from that yesterday either) while eating mindfully. I'm taking Mom to the movies today. Yesterday I saw Silver Linings Playbook which was wonderful & I'd highly recommend, & today we'll see Safe Haven (which I think at PG-13 is a safe haven for Mom). Then tonight, my good friend is joining us for dinner. And, I fly home tomorrow.

So, I start this one day praying again for serenity, and I'll pray, breathe, log, post and express for this one day, meal, moment, bite & emotion at a time. Thanks in advance for being here, my FS friends... Can't tell you how much it means to have you all & your amazing support! Xoxox

Good for you Angel - taking care of yourself and regrouping. This is a very difficult illness for all and when the patience runs out you are wise to rest and restore. Bella

As you know, if you don't take a "mental health break" for yourself you sure aren't going to be doing her any good. Hope today is better for both of you.

I am sorry that this is taking such a toll on you. I hope you have a beautiful more peaceful day with her today. Have to let us know if the movie is good. It is one I am wanting to see.
