FullaBella's Journal, 14 December 2012

Scattered thoughts this morning with no single conclusion.
Tried a pomello grapefruit last night - not that impressed considering it was harder to eat than crablegs despite the Utube video demo instruction. I knew something was amiss when my little dog wasn't begging at my feet - she loves fruit.
Made my first smoothie ever last night with eggnog, yogurt, and mixed berries (and crushed ice) - not bad... I have been avoiding any liquid calories because I enjoy chewing but on the plus side it was too thick so by the time I was 1/2 through it I'd recognized the 'I want' was satisfied. My 5 year old POS blender hit the trashbin this morning as I eagerly await my new 7 speed blender to be delivered (2am online shopping) and will check out the recipes at the reboot site.
My little dog had seizures at 1am and again 4am - she's had these a while and takes pheno but will call vet if she has a third - may be time to up the dosage. So I'm a walking zombie and have to fight to smile my 'worried' face away.
MH is now needing temperature in the house even colder than the sixty eight degrees all summer. No heat on at all and it's only 66 in here and he asks for AC. I want to accommodate his request but worry about him (well all of us) exposed to such low temps.
Wait - there's that W word again... need to smile and face the day.
Thank you for reading - have a great Friday.

Does he work in a super cold environment? Or is it a health issue? My husband used to work in a freezer building, so our house always had to be cold. But, he's switched jobs now, and our electric bill thanks him.

Health - COPD / CRF makes it difficult to breathe if he feels too hot.

My heating isn't working too well at the moment and my house is around 51 degrees - not by choice!!! The smoothie sounds delicious - I also found them to be very high in calories too. I hope your dog is ok x

When you have to watch a YouTube video to eat a fruit....LOL....something just does not sound righ...hahaha. Hope your fur baby is okay. Also hope that all is well with your husband. I am sure that is not easy and you want to accommodate but you are right to want to ensure that it is not bad for his health. I hope you have a great day.

Smoothie was under 200 cal & 5 gr fat ~ and more than satisfying but yeah, will watch those cals so they don't add too high to be a healthy snack. No more seizures yet for the furbaby and still don't know what to make of MH and the A/C as he had me turn it on (and it's only 64 in here!) Oy Vey ... all this and I'll likely be the first to go!

You could try dance-baking; warms me up, lol. I hope your furdaughter continues to do better, poor darling. My Beau (cat) has been having issues & my vet mentioned putting him on pheno; I hope not to have to go that route. Oh, I love smoothies, though I haven't been feeling much like making them now that its cooler weather, though I still have plenty of frozen fruit and a big carton of Fage nonfat plain Greek yogurt; maybe that's what I'll have for lunch today; thanks for the idea! I have some ripe bananas, frozen pineapple, coconut extract; hmmm, I'm starting to feel tropical... Hey, I changed my image photo to a plate of my cookies, since I don't know how to send you a picture. I'm usually using my Kindle Fire, and it's not as easy to do everything on it as it is on a computer. I took the pic this morning with my cell phone, so it's not the best, but you get the idea. I'm taking cookies to my partner's 92 year old mother tomorrow; she could use some extra calories. I'm going to frost some of the praline cookies, & maybe mix up another batch of something.

Ckat those cookies are AMAZING ~ you are an ARTIST! Wow! I dub thee 'The Slender Baker!' Your friends and apartment neighbors are very fortunate to have you baking for them. I use a kindle when away from my desk - you always know when I've posted using it by the increase in typos. Would LOVE to dance & bake but I can't even turn the oven on right now - MH complains it makes the house too hot even now. So I guess I'll just dance and maybe make some homemade candies or no bake desserts. Hope Beau gets better; not sure how kitty's do on pheno; Furbaby did just fine on it except she gained weight and this was the first seizure in 16mos. Thank goodness I had valium on hand (for her, not me). Maybe I should get some too! (Not)

Another great accomplishment & example to us all, you had a craving & found a way to satisfy it while keeping with your healthy eating plan. Kudos to you again! And, I'm so sorry to hear about your poor little doggie. My sons both have epilepsy & their seizures are controlled by meds, but it's required adjustments over the years. It's such a scary disease. Thinking of you & sending you warm thoughts!
