BuffyBear's Journal, 20 August 2011

Please help - I just clicked on my profile and it says I am gaining 3.5 lbs./per week. NOT TRUE! I am only one pound up from my lowest weight.

I didn't know computers made math mistakes! How did this happen and is anyone else having the same problem?

I've noticed it, but it is not accurate, as here is why. Like if i weight in 2 days in a row and both days i lost one pound each, by the 2nd day it would say Losing 7lbs per week, because the computer assumes for the next 7 days you will resume that trend. Same with a gain. Pay no attention to that. If you wanna know what you've done in one week, just look at your weigh in chart in one week blocks.

Hey I noticed the same thing on the computer weigh in's, it told me also I was losing 7lb per week, and that's not true ! Crazy computers ...

Icymaiden - thanks. That makes sense but it is still painful to look at.

Notfast - I'd take that 7 lb/week loss and run with it! Even if not true it would give my ego a great boost.

Yes it also tells me things like "your weigh-in was xxx, at this rate it will take you a million years to reach your goal weight". What a ball buster! I think the fs computer must be related to Mr. Elliptical. Just use the weight history as icymaiden said, it's a better, more accurate snapshot of your AWESOME accomplishments!

I really appreciate your explanations. As usual, I was panicking over nothing.

OK Buffy...Just log in your weight as soon as you drop that pesky pound, even if it's not your normal weigh-in date. That will give you a different caption. I completely agree with you that the captions need work! I had a "gaining 7 pounds per week" caption that drove me crazy, even thought I knew it wasn't true. It bummed me out for the 2 days I had it - couldn't wait to log in a different weight to make it go away!!

Sandy - Good idea. Funny, I'm sure it had been on there like that before but I never checked my profile so never caught it.

Buffy, I have seen this not only on my own weight, but I've seen it on my buddies also. When I see that someone has lost a large amount of weight in a week, I immediately think "How did they do that? That's amazing!". Then I look at their weight chart and see what has happened, I get the real picture. Like Auntie, I hate when it tells me that at the rate I'm losing it will take years to reach my goal. No fun at all!

Pamela - Funny we are supposed to be intelligent humans, but when machines talk we tend to listen. We need to revolt against the machines!
