05 July 2010

My sleep cycle is off again and I've been staying up late and waking up later, and I'm not a big fan. I need to fix it, but I'm not in the mood to pull an all nighter, lol, and I don't think my late night workouts are helping the situation either; I swear it just gives me more energy, instead of wearing me out which is counterproductive. Technically it's Monday so I figured I'd get a jump start on my journal. Last week I indulged in too many sugar alcohols (low carb Franken foods, ie carbsmart ice cream, ahhh) and more dairy than I'd like (I had cheese everyday). Now it's time to cut them out, I stopped buying the ice cream so that's good, I just have to resist cheese w. my eggs. I unthawed my chicken sausage so I will be back to that in the morning. I find that they're flavorful enough that I don't need cheese w. my eggs like I do when I have just ham or something.

Does anyone know any good marinades for chicken breasts? I swear I do the same things and its absolutely boring. I think I'm going to have to make some salads and do other stuff, but I can't think beyond, just grilled chicken on a salad, pan fried (no oil) w. pesto. I try not to buy pesto b/c it makes me want pasta, lol.
I think this should be an easy week except I'm going back to the Hamptons with my friends, and I already plan on bringing my dvds, now I have to bring my own food, haha, here come the funny looks! :)

Taking a page from K8yk, I'm going to give myself two compliments a day:

1. My legs look great
2. My arms look good too :)

I've been having a great two weeks with my exercise, and I'm glad to say it's back to a habit. I swear after that blip I was definitely not into working out everyday, but that's no longer the case. I think some of it had to do with the transition to a new place, when I was at my old apartment I had it set up so I knew where I would always work out. Here, I had everything everywhere because while the room is larger, the closet isn't walk-in so I had extraneous stuff all about. Now that I have some organization, and order it's a lot more functional. I'm eating well and consistently exercising. I'm just going to post these videos I made earlier, since I'm goign to be doing that more often as well as uploading my blog/website. I decided to join a July challenge with another diet blogger so it should be fun!!!

So, on a whim I decided to do a second round of Insanity. I figured it's July 1st and I had such great results with the program, that now that I'm not burnt out by it I can try it again. While TurboFire and Insanity are both cardio intense, I know that I also got great muscle tone from Insanity and it was all from the sports drills and pushups. Fit test wasn't as bad as the first time I ever stared it, I was suprised how not out of shape I am, or thought I would be. Granted, I'm not used to the daily beating that is Insanity, but I'm sure it will only take me about 10 workouts or so to get back into the swing of things. Since this is an ambitious undertaking I'm really going to have to be prepared food wise. I remember my first round of Insanity I was hungry ALL THE TIME.

FIT TEST #1 (July 1st)

1. Switch Kicks 55
2. Power Jacks 55
3. Power Kneews 82
4. Power Jumps 30
5. Globe Jumps 9
6. Suicide Jumps 18
7. Pushup Jacks 28
8. Low Plank Oblique 54

Time for some meal planning and consistent food shopping.

Brazil Butt Lift class in the city was fun but intense. I superstacked my workouts so that when I took it on Tuesday, if I had any crazy soreness I wouldn't have to workout on top of that, smart idea! The back of my legs are still hurting, but in a good way. My friend really liked it, and since she lives in Manhattan she's probably going togo a few times a week since she got a month pass. We met a few girls in the class that take it religiously and one girl does it at least three times a week and has lost 30lbs. I'm dying to see her before/after pictures, but I think she's shy lol.

I'm finally getting the hang of turbofire, today I tried it with my weighted gloves, but I took them midway through. I haven't gotten back my Chalean Extreme from my friend yet so I can't try the hybrid I wanted to yet, but I have enough options it's not that big of a deal. BBL continues to kick my butt though, so I think i may force myself to add that in at least twice a week, the only way i'll get better at it is if I do it more often.

My eating has been good as well. The past few days I've had a few more carbs than I usually do, but I can't help myself w. the low carb ice cream that was on sale. I will not buy anymore because I can't eat it like a normal person. I'm not even that fond of sweets, lol.

29 June 2010

I'm so excited I'm getting better at my workouts. The first week I was getting winded and would have to take a few breaks, but this time, I only had to stop once and only for a couple of seconds to catch my breath. I had a great weekend and only had one off day, which I just wrote off since I had a flawless week. The game on Friday was great, I wasn't that hungry, nor was I willing to spend $7 on an Italian Sausage so I didn't eat anything at the game, just my 1.5 liter bottle of water. I had expected to go home after, but my new friend I went with wanted to go out so we had a few drinks. I had two vodka seltzers which are carb free, and very strong apparently, lol. I had my handy dandy Kashi granola bar as a late night snack.

Being in the city is always great because you get tons of walking in. Saturday I made sure to have Choc Shakeology iced coffee before I got too hungry so I didn't have to worry about blowing it. I ended up staying in the city, so that always makes me nervous since I'm not in control of the situation. We planned on meeting up with a few friends to watch the World Cup at a bar, so I was grateful I wasn't ravenous when I got there. I had a few Cokes, a few chicken fingers and spinach and artichoke dip. We then had dinner after at a mexican restaurant, had one too many chips so I had to move the bowl to the other side of the table, lol. I had a Chicken Quesadilla and that was it. I pretty much didn't eat on plan, but I didn't eat anything for the rest of the day. So, I think it wasn't too bad, I had it mid day, then walked from midtown to SoHo which is a good walk.

Sunday, and Monday back on plan. Low carb/low sugar. I made the mistake of buying low carb ice cream fro the house, but I added in an extra workout so all is good. Its only 4 net carbs, but still it's so good portion control is an issue.

The plan for today/tomorrow is to do Burn Circuit I from Chalean Extreme in the morning and at night I'm supposed to go into the city for the Brazil Butt Lift class, I feel like I'm going to be super sore on hump day, lol. BBL always kills my lower half...
