Motivation at a low point until I read an article written by a local trainer. He talked about setting priorities using the following illustration - a doctor says to his overweight patient " is it better to exercise for one hour a day, or be dead for 24 hours a day?"
The minimum is at least 20 minutes a day of moderate exercise, or 30min. 3x a week of vigorous exercise. The trainer thinks that 1 hour of moderate exercise daily is the best bet.
So, priority needs to be set. The trainer said "I'm too busy to be dead".

Fiber is so important!
Never mind the calories - watch for fiber so that you body functions properly. The foods that are high with fiber are also good for you - like fruits, veggies, bran cereals, nuts, etc. When you look at what you put in your mouth, think of what goes out! Don't forget to drink a lot of water too! Exercise also keeps things moving inside too. Keep regular and happy. That's my advice for today.

Training for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. I'm one of the 5000+walkers in Toronto who will be doing this 60 km or 36 mile walk over two days.
Getting ready means following a schedule which gradually builds up stamina. This is not a speed walk or a run, so as long as I can walk 5 - 7 km, then rest and continue again for another 5 - 7km, I will be able to do it! Stretching is extremely important.
As far as the weight - I'm maintaining a weight that I think I was born at! So my body seems comfortable. Sure, I would love to be 10 lbs lighter, but many are in that situation. The choice is to either like myself as I am, or consistently try to be a lighter version of myself by changing patterns about 20% less for food, 20% more for exercise. Have a great day!

Girth - comes with getting older. Noticing that I'm losing weight but not my girth. Girth means getting wider.
I'd like to get the newer type scales that measure body fat and weight. Does anyone have one and are you pleased with it?

Hola,
Back from Mexico - great time, but too great of a time eating. Fortunately, we did a lot of walking, so I didn't gain weight. The big problem was constipation!! Who else would suffer from constipation in Mexico??
Anyway, I'm back on track with Dr. Morris' Cancer Prevention Diet and feel so so much better.
