Really bad (and unasked for) diet advice and other demotivating experiences!
It's always amazed me how my journey could have such affect, and sometimes such *differing* affects on people. As I lost weight steadily for several years it got a little weird for me to see people I hadn't seen in a long time as they would freak out which was very uncomfortable for me. Then as I went past the 100 lb mark people mentioned that they thought I should stop (but I was still a size 14) and when I got to the 130 mark (at a size 10), there were people who approached me regarding my health. I didn't look unhealthy (per me and some sane friends) and I had done it slowly and heathfully. I exercised for most of those years and am still left with wrinkles and fat bags so now sometimes people think I'm crazy because *I* know that 170 for my 5'4 very large boned frame is about as low as it will go without surgey to removes said baggage but *they* think I should weight about 145 (I'll be dead before I weigh that little) based on a chart somewhere.

The bottom line is that most often we know our body best and have to do what is comfortable. I used to be polite and nod but now I'm more vocal if I am told something that I know to be untrue, at the very least untrue for me. I learned a lot during the journey to include not to give unsolicited advice ~ I also learned as some others here posting to this thread, lost weight can creep back in and we may sometimes have to begin again and lose that....thank goodness we learned a thing or two along the way.

excess stomach fat
I have to agree with Elizabeth ~ having lost 130 pounds over a several year time period, I was left with a lot of skin and fat pockets. Several factors - I was in my early 40s, I had weighed in the 300 range for many years, I had been fat ALL of my life and my entire family tends toward fat. I did notice, however, that as Kokusho pointed out, the last pounds had a tremendous impact and his 'out of thin air' numbers were pretty spot on for me. Now with some back and forth weight I have noticed that what happens is when I gain, my wrinkles fill back in!!! EW! You think you hate the wrinkles...? Let them fill back out and you'll suddenly miss them! It's a personal choice for us all when we reach the crossroads; to take off surgically or not......? I'd do the arms and backfat if I had the money because it has a big impact on the size shirts I wear and the amount of football player physique I care about. As for the belly and boobs or butt, well, it may be nice but I'm not sure I'd pay the money for the paina dn time lost at work even if I had it. It all depends on what is most important to each of us.

hcg diet
It's not easy for anyone.... Even having had much success and still being a hundred pounds to the good, it is just as difficult for me to get serious and get started on losing the 25 I need to lose since I gained 30. Everyone has a right to how hard it is for them at whatever moment they are in. Just. Keep. Working.

no more starting tomorrow...
You are so correct, mb, it is calories in and calories out over the long haul. Everything works for someone I say. Use what works at the moment and when that doesn't seem to work (why ask why?) anymore move on to something that does. Whatever you do consistently will show in the end....which is where I like to see my most progress!! =>

Exercise at the office?
I just recently had a bike restored for me (thanks sweetheart!!) for the express purpose of leaving it at work 24/7 so that I can go for a 20 minute ride during nice days. I should be getting it there this week, very excited!
