Goal Weights
My goal weight is below mid range BMI for my height, but I have a thin bone structure and it's what I weighed for as long as I could remember until I let the weight creep on over the last 5-8 years.
I set mini-goals for myself based on what is considered a healthy weight loss, not on my history, and went from there. I had 45lbs to lose, I broke it up into 15lb increments and planned rewards for each one of those goals, things I would like to have but never felt I deserved at my starting weight.
I also have a pocket chart I carry in my purse, with my goal weights charted in red, and my actual weight charted in black. This way when I get discouraged, I can look at it and think "I may not have lost much since my last weigh in but I'm right on track for my goal!"

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
every other day for me! I get discouraged by the fluctuations but want to know where I'm at so it was a balance. FS has really helped me with this, if I feel disappointed in my less than 1lb weight loss and log in to record it, I love that FS lets me know how I'm doing when I record it, it has buoyed my spirits so much!

Surprise Benefits of Weight Loss?
For me, my biggest things I've noticed is my unconscious energy. I used to holler at someone in the other room to bring me something when I was studying, now I get up and get it myself, without even thinking about it. I L O V E the increased sex drive (hubby doesnt mind it either) I also noticed I don't get as crazy pms-y either (hubby doesnt mind that either!) I sleep better, my insomnia isn't as bad, and I feel much more rested when I wake up.
I have energy to go go go when I used to whine whine whine.

Love it!!!
