I “relapsed” this morning...

It could have been worse I suppose. I was up all night with a pain in my stomach. It went from stabbing, to a dull achy to a cramping feeling. To be honest I was thinking maybe my cycle was coming early or something... I tried curling up in fetal position on my left side (it’s supposed to help with stomach pain, cramps even gas or acid reflux) but I tossed and turned all night ☹️ it’s on my left lower side mostly.

When I woke up the only thing on my mind was a steaming hot mug of old fashion (GF) rolled oats with some butter and cinnamon. So I ate it... and I actually did get some comfort from it... it’s my “hug in a mug”, the texture, aroma and how filling it is, just the best while eaten piping hot alone on a comfy couch gazing out of your favorite window...

Sooooo.... now that I am tired from being up all night, pain has subsided for now, I plan to stay home doing light chores in pajamas all day and I will try to keep my carbs at zero, and tomorrow is a brand new day...

Logging and moving along.

It’s easier to be hard on ourselves when we make mistakes but self love and forgiveness is very important in a successful weight loss journey. Today I choose love and self care.

♥️
Wishing you all an amazing Friday eve 😉

Ouch... here's hoping you get some relief without additional "hugs in a mug" (hugs the air, sending warm wishes)!

@From371to184 Thanks!! 😊 I got a little concerned when something above my left hip was spasming... maybe a muscle, maybe an organ?! 🙀 so I figured I should give in to my craving this morning and just take some time for healing.

@doobrie thanks. It is a dull achy cramp feeling but nothing too intense currently.

@KayseaLove the thing is I am not constipated... ☹️everything seems pretty normal besides the pain. I’m hoping it isn’t some stomach flu brewing... it’s going around REALLY bad around my parts of Cali (and across most the nation from what I’ve read). I usually have an incredible pain tolerance, so today I plan to just curl up with a hot water bottle and sip teas... and let my body rest. Cheers to restarts and new days. I usually try to do a carb up every 10-14days, so I guess this is my unplanned reboot day 🙁

Glad you are feeling better. I will offer that it is important to listen to our bodies and what is trying to tell us. just offering as an alternative for your hug in a mug; Bob's red mill steel cut oats - 140 Cals 21 net carbs and 4 protein.

@tahoebrun thanks!! I am definitely listening and resting up today! Kinda funny you mention that because that was my other option I logged both options into my food diary before picking my “poison”. LOL, yes, the steel cut oats would have saved me 4Carbs, but would have been less protein and fat and less food in my belly, also less calories, which since going keto some days my calories are low. I wanted the more filling option since I woke up hungry from tossing and turning and knowing I was misbehaving... had to make it worth it 😉 but I was a good girl and used 1tsp of coconut sugar instead of my favorite sweetener, maple syrup!!

Rest well.

I just woke up from a nap. I used a heating bottle and cbd. The combination of reliefs my tired self out. I don’t get to nap enough as a homeschooling mother of two with insomnia... it’s amazing how well I can sleep during the day though, maybe I’m just nocturnal 🤷‍♀️

@Mamamc7...Glad you are feeling better. Unexplained pain can be worrisome and it sounds like you listened to your body and gave yourself some comfort. I was intrigued by your comment about “carbing up” every 10-14 days. Can you explain your reason for that? I find that eating LCHF is very easy for me for about 7-8 days, and then I am craving all those “healthy foods” that I didn’t find that interesting before doing a restrictive WOE. The thought of eating something like an orange or apple, lots of veggies or a big bowl of oatmeal just sends me over the top!!😳 I was thinking it might work for me to take a 1-2 day break and eat a high fiber, veggie-laden, low fat diet and then start right back in with the LCHF WOE. Does that make sense? Has anyone else tried that approach? I’m pretty new to this, so I have no idea.

@broccolibabe I am the same way. I think of my body like a wind up toy, when I start losing steam it think it may be helpful to reboot the system. don't go crazy with carbs, add good ones like sweet potato or even oatmeal but it's good to keep the body guessing. So it can't totally hurt you to try it out in my own opinion. And just try to log daily how you feel before and after and weigh in more often maybe to really track what it does for you. I try to log more and journal more when things are changing in my life, emotions, eating habits, or activities.

@brocollibabe I usually up my carbs to 50-60 on carb up days, usually only one day and I make my biggest meal dinner. Then I intermittent fast 18hrs and go back to 20NC or less. I also eat less than 10NC for two days occasionally to keep my body guessing. I should be back to day#9 of a keto way of eating again today after my six weeks off (not by choice ☹️)... so I guess my next carb up day I will try for in ten days... then 11 days... I try to increase my self discipline kind of slowly, because we are also running a marathon not a race. So I have to treat it like one.

Body needs carbs gf — try a balanced diet - high protein

@Mamamc7....Thanks for sharing your approach. I think I will try it and see how it goes for me. I believe that intimately, it would help me stay on track with Keto over a long period of time. I will be diligent about tracking my foods so I don’t let things get out of hand. Truly, I don’t crave a piece of cake. I crave a piece of fruit! lol
